Surgical bone milling instrument

A surgical bone milling instrument, suited to operate in a hole formed in a bone, comprising a milling element (10), with longitudinal axis (A) and with the forward end portion (11) rotating around a longitudinal axis (A), and milling the bone. The instrument comprises a tubular element (30) of circular external cross-section and provided with a thread engaging, by helical coupling, a hole formed in the bone. The milling element (10) is associated with the tubular element (30), arranged so that the forward end portion (11) thereof is located ahead of the tubular element (30) and can rotate around the longitudinal axis (A) thereof and translate axially relative to the tubular element (30). The milling element (10) has a rear portion (14) which passes coaxially through the tubular element (30), while the forward end portion (11) projects beyond the front of the tubular element (30). The milling procedure of a bone cavity can be completed while maintaining control of the position of the device relative to the hole. Furthermore, in each phase in which the milling element is rotated, while the instrument is axially stationary inside the hole, a groove is created on the end of the hole (or an extension of the entire hole) the depth of which is constant and predetermined. Further, by way of axial pressure applied to the milling head by the drive element, a detachment of residual bone wall can be achieved as soon as this has reached a breaking resistance which is lower than a force applied by the drive element.

Method and Apparatus for Removing a Sleeve of Meat from an Animal Part Having Bone with Knuckles on Each of its Opposite Ends

A method of removing a sleeve of meat (D) from an animal part having a bone with a first knuckle (B) on one of two opposite ends of an elongate bone shaft (A) and a second knuckle (C) on another of the two opposite ends. The method includes the steps of engaging the bone of the animal part with a part of a meat stripper (13) between its first knuckle (B) and the sleeve of meat (D) and engaging the bone by a knuckle gripper (71) between the part of the meat stripper (13) and the first knuckle (B). The method continues with moving the meat stripper (13) and the knuckle gripper (71) away from one another, while stripping and gathering the sleeve of meat (D) towards the second knuckle (C). In a subsequent step the method discontinues moving away the meat stripper (13) and knuckle gripper (71) from one another upon the part of the meat stripper (13) engaging the second knuckle (C). A further method step then advances a meat cutter (51) in a direction towards the meat stripper (13) opposite of the knuckle gripper (71) to cut the sleeve of meat (D) gathered by the meat stripper (13) circumferentially around the second knuckle (C). The method finishes by retracting the meat cutter (51), disengaging the knuckle gripper (71), removing the bone from the gathered sleeve of meat (D) and from the meat stripper (13), and collecting the gathered sleeve of meat (D) for further processing. An apparatus for performing the method according to this method is also disclosed.

Apparatus for bone fixation

The present invention is characterized in that an apparatus for bone fixation that is composed of a plate and screws fixing the plate to a bone, includes: screws that has a head portion having a male thread on the outer circumference while increasing in diameter toward the upper portion in a tapered shape; washers of which the outer circumference is formed convex, and which has, on the inner circumference, a slope that contact with the head portion such that the head portion of the screw is placed and a female thread that is engaged with the male thread of the head portion; and a plate that has locking holes which are bored concave in the up-down direction and have a holding step, where the washer is placed, on the inner circumference, in which when the washer and the head of which the female thread and the male thread are partially engaged are inserted from above the locking hole and placed on the holding step, as the head portion is moved down by thread-fastening, the washer is in close contact and fixed in the locking hole while the diameter of the upper end increases, and the apparatus for bone fixation according to the present invention has the effect of inserting and fixing the screw perpendicular to the plate because the washer and screw are combined in advance and then fixed to the plate, and allowing an operator to more freely perform an operation because the operator can insert and fix the screw at a desired angle.
