An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for rebuilding only changed stripes of an offline member disk in a RAID array that is configured with redundancy and no hot standby disk. A work-in-progress (“WIP”) map tracks the changed stripes of the offline member disk prior to a reactivation and records the completion of the differential rebuilding (“DR”) process on the stripes. The DR process shortens the duration of a degraded mode of operation entered into by a logical drive formed when the RAID array experiences a member disk failure that results in one member disk being designated as offline.

The present invention is a Control System Architecture (CSA) for a multi-component armament system. The CSA provides dynamic reconfiguration of multiple nodes (e.g. a component, a subsystem, or a virtual simulation) in a Simulation-Emulation-Stimulation (SES) environment utilizing redundant client-server bus configuration of the nodes in a hierarchical model. The CSA provides for ease of configuration of nodes for any specific application, automated system reconfiguration capabilities to detect and bypass failed nodes or re-group available remaining nodes in the event of degraded mode operation, and expansion and/or downsizing of nodes without requiring a modification to the overall system architecture.

A system for automatic lane failover includes a first device coupled to a second device via a serial communication link having a plurality of a communication lanes. The devices may communicate by operating the link in a normal mode and a degraded mode. During normal mode operation, the devices may send frames of information to each other via the serial communication link. Each frame of information may include a number of data bits and a number of error protection bits. In response to either device detecting a failure of one or more of the communication lanes, the first device may cause the serial communication link to operate in a degraded mode by removing the one or more failed communication lanes. In addition, each device may reformat and send the frame of information on the remaining communication lanes with fewer data bits and the same number of error protection bits.

A Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) level migration method for performing an online RAID level migration and adding a disk to a destination RAID is provided. First, the required information for migration is specified, and then a degraded mode is used to establish the destination RAID, and file system is built on the destination RAID. The file system of the source disk device is configured to be read-only, and all data of the source disk device are duplicated to the destination RAID. After completing file duplication, the destination RAID replaces the source disk device. The operation of the source disk device is stopped and the source disk device is added to the destination RAID. As a result, the RAID migration is accomplished. A method of managing the degraded modes of a system for the automatic starting/stopping of a heat engine of a vehicle, whereby the system receives information supplied by measurement and detection sensors and by a bus for the communication of vehicle operating data. A control and power module for a rotating electrical machine comprising a power circuit containing a number of branches, and a control circuit designed for controlling the power circuit when the machine operates in a nominal mode.
