Method for processing the output of a speech recognizer

A system and method for processing speech input comprising a speech recognizer and a logical command processor which facilitates additional processing of speech input beyond the speech recognizer level. A speech recognizer receives input from a user, and when a command is identified in the speech input, if the command meets conditions that require additional processing, a representation of the speech input s stored for subsequent processing. A logical command processor performs additional processing of command input by analyzing the command and its elements, determining which elements are required for successful processing the command and which elements are present and lacking. The user is prompted to supply missing information, and subsequent user input is added to the command structure until the command input is aborted or the command structure reaches sufficient completeness to enable execution of the command. Thereby, speech input of complex commands in natural language in a system running a plurality of applications and processes is made possible.

Graphical user interface for network management

A graphical user interface (GUI) provides a plurality of views of a network and its elements in the same viewing engine. A user can switch between the plurality of views in a context-sensitive manner, each view showing relationship or interconnection information. The GUI allows a user to view inter-related objects at the same level, and to view at a lower level sub-objects that make up each of those objects. Different functional views can be provided at the same hierarchical or logical level based on the stored relationship information. A user can navigate between a network level view, a site level view, a shelf level view, and a schematic level view, via element selection or by zooming. A network element data set provides context-sensitive data and images to each level and view for that network element and enables automatic generation of a network topology.

System and method of automatically sizing and adapting a widget to available space

A smart-sizing, browser-based widget uses both information defined by a user (e.g., a width value, etc.) and information provided by the web browser and web page within which it is being displayed, to calculate, in real-time, which of its elements to display, and at what scale, so as to make the most efficient use of its available space. The determination as to which elements to display may be a function of a pre-defined relationship among the elements.

Method of vector analysis for a document

The invention provides a document representation method and a document analysis method including extraction of important sentences from a given document and / or determination of similarity between two documents. The inventive method detects terms that occur in the input document, segments the input document into document segments, each segment being an appropriately sized chunk and generates document segment vectors, each vector including as its element values according to occurrence frequencies of the terms occurring in the document segments. The method further calculates eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a square sum matrix in which a rank of the respective document segment vector is represented by R and selects from the eigenvectors a plural (L) of eigenvectors to be used for determining the importance. Then, the method calculates a weighted sum of the squared projections of the respective document segment vectors onto the respective selected eigenvectors and selects document segments having the significant importance based on the calculated weighted sum of the squared projections of the respective document segment vectors.

Asymmetric cryptosystem employing paraunitary matrices

Disclosed are multivariate paraunitary asymmetric cryptographic systems and methods that are based on paraunitary matrices. An algebraic approach is employed in designing the multivariate cryptographic systems and methods. The cryptographic systems and methods are based on formulating a general system of multivariate polynomial equations by paraunitary matrices. These matrices are a family of invertible polynomial matrices that can be completely parameterized and efficiently generated by primitive building blocks. Using a general formulation that involves paraunitary matrices, a one-way function is designed that operates over the fields of characteristic two. To include a trapdoor, approximations are made to the paraunitary matrix. The result is a trapdoor one-way function that is efficient to evaluate, but hard to invert unless secret information about the trapdoor is known. An exemplary implementation operates on the finite field GF(256). In this example, the message block includes 16 to 32 symbols from GF(256), i.e., the block size n is an integer between 16 and 32. The ciphertext block takes its elements from the same field and has at least 10 extra symbols.

Method and apparatus for encoding or decoding blocks of pixel

The invention concerns a method and a device for processing a current pixel block of an image using a palette prediction mode according to HEVC RExt. The mode uses a current palette to build a predictor block of indexes to predict the current pixel block. The current palette comprises entries associating entry indexes with pixel values. The method comprises predicting the current palette from entries of two or more palettes that are palettes previously used to process blocks of pixels. A palette predictor may be used that is built from the two or more palettes, preferably from the last used palette for a coding unit in the current coding entity and from the previously used palette for which a flag bitmap indicates whether or not its elements have been copied into the last used palette. Accordingly, the coding of the palette mode is improved.

Method of designing automotive seat assemblies for rear impact performance

A method for designing automobile seat assemblies in which a sled test is run on a prototype seat assembly in order to obtain the necessary data to model the seat assembly with simulation software. A basic model of the surface of the seat assembly is built utilizing simulation software and tests are run on various parameters to determine those that are most significant to the desired objective of the design process. Thereafter, the software is used to build a detailed model of the seat assembly and all its elements and the significant parameters are tested further to determine those that are again most significant to achieving the desired outcome. Once optimization ranges for those most significant parameters are chosen, the prototype seat assembly is modified accordingly. A final sled test is run on the modified prototype to verify the results and compare those results with the original sled test results.
