Flexible hydraulic muscle

A flexible hydraulic muscle (20) comprising a fluid port (22), bellow (24), end seal (28) and attachment ring (30). Bellow (24) also defines a retracting spring bias for generating contracting forces within muscle (20). Fluid port (22) is designed to provide an anchor point for the muscle, while at the same time, providing a means to introduce and remove hydraulic fluid from bellow (24). End seal (28) and attachment ring (30) provide the second connecting point for the muscle. These two anchor points on each end of bellow (24) provide connection points to communicate contracting force from bellow (24) into useful work. End seal (28) is securely attached or bonded to the end of bellow (24) to provide a fluid tight seal, and designed to resist longitudinal forces on the connection.

Piston, method of producing the piston, and pump having the piston

A piston 1 which is to be movably supported in a cylinder 11 of a pump 10 to be reciprocally driven is formed by a fluororesin so that it is not impaired by a corrosive liquid. A cylindrical outer peripheral portion 2 of the piston 1 has a thickness of 1 mm or less, and is flexible. The outer peripheral portion has a flange portion 7 in an open end portion via an approximately 180-degree folded-back portion 3. The flange portion 7 is attached to the cylinder 11. When the pump 10 is driven, the cylindrical outer peripheral portion 2 of the piston 1 smoothly rolls without producing deflections or bends in a gap between the outer peripheral face of a piston support member 15 and the inner peripheral face of the cylinder 11, while being in close contact with the two faces.

Hydraulically Driven Multicylinder Pumping Machine

A hydraulically driven multicylinder diaphragm pumping machine for pumping difficult-to-pump materials comprises pump cylinders each having at one end (20) an inlet / outlet (21) for fluid material to be pumped supplied under adjustable pneumatic pressure, and at the other end (30) an inlet and outlet (31,32) for hydraulic oil. A separator (40) movable to-and-fro inside the pump cylinder (10) is connected to the fluid-material end of the cylinder by a bellows-like flexible diaphragm (45) and to the fluid material end (30) by another bellows-like diaphragm (46) leaving an outer annular space (49) that contains hydraulic fluid. The total volume of pumping hydraulic oil in the cylinders (10.1-10.12) is maintained constant and equal to ½ the total displacement volume of the cylinders by a device (65) that compensates for thermal expansion and controls the necessary return flow of hydraulic oil for driving the pump. The separators (40) move with an intake stroke at constant speed for all cylinders, and with pumping strokes function of the hydraulic oil delivery, so a lesser number of separators (40) effect an intake stroke while a greater number of separators (40) effect a discharge stroke.

Annular Venturi Burner for Stirling Engine

An annular venturi burner assembly and Stirling engine. The annular venturi burner injects fuel into combustion air flowing axial through an port with an annular cross section. The fuel enters the annular cross-section from the outside diameter. The flow of air through the annular section creates suction that draws the fuel through the ports. An venturi bushing directs the flow of fuel to provides improved and more uniform mixing of fuel and air.
