Thin film transistor memory device

A memory device includes a memory array of thin film transistor (TFT) memory cells. The memory cells include a floating gate separated from a gate electrode portion of a gate line by an insulator. The gate electrode portion includes a diffusive conductor that diffuses through the insulator under the application of a write voltage. The diffusive conductor forms a conductive path through the insulator that couples the gate line to the floating gate, changing the gate capacitance and therefore the state of the memory cell. The states of the memory cells are detectable as the differing current values for the memory cells. The memory cells are three terminal devices, and read currents do not pass through the conductive paths in the memory cells during read operations. This renders the memory cells robust, because read currents will not interfere with the storage mechanism in the memory cells. The memory array can be fabricated using multiple steps using the same mask. The use of a single mask for multiple steps reduces the time and cost involved in fabricating the memory array.

Using artificial signals to maximize capacity and secrecy of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication

A system and method for increasing the capacity of a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system at desired user's locations and reducing the capacity at locations, other than that of the desired user, while also providing secrecy. Knowing the channel coefficient between each transmitter and receiver antenna pair at the transmitter, the method of the present invention calculates the artificial signal that minimizes the Euclidean distance between the desired and received data symbols if the precoding / combining matrix pair from the set that has the minimum Euclidean distance to the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the channel matrix is used for transmission and reception. The artificial signal may be fed to the precoder, instead of the actual desired data symbols, or may be transmitted directly to reduce computational complexity, power consumption and processing delay if the hardware configuration allows.

Data transmission method and a system thereof

An optical transmitter generates a transmission signal having a frame as a unit, the frame including a signal pilot signal with fixed amplitude and phase and two data bits to output the generated signal into a transmission line. In a receiver, a splitter splits the signal light from the transmission line. An optical delay delays the signal light for a 1-bit period. A first combiner combines the signal light from the transmission line and the output signal light from the optical delay. A photodetector converts the combined light into an electrical signal. A 3-bit optical delay, a second combiner, a BPF, and an oscillator generate a frame-timing signal. A gate separates a data from the output from the photodetector under the control of a gate control unit. A binary discriminator binary-discriminates the output signal from the gate.

Discovery and acquisition methods for directional networking

A system and method of assisting a radio in finding a network is presented. A method first detects existing nodes. A message is received on a slow communication link in a slow network from a new node. One or more existing nodes are found that may connect to new node with a fast communication link in a fast network. The fast network has a data rate that is faster than the slow network. A message is transmitted over the slow network to the new node to provide the new node possible existing nodes that are near it that it may connect to. Based on that message the new node establishes a fast communications link on the fast network between the new node and an existing node. The fast communications link can be a directional link.

Electomagnetic detection apparatus

An infrared absorption gauge includes a detector circuit including a detector for detecting electromagnetic radiation from a sample and for generating a signal representing the radiation received, and means for stabilizing a response characteristic of the detector to the radiation detected thereby, said stabilizing means having a GaAs diode for directing radiation at the detector and means for controlling the radiation source in dependence upon the signal generated by the detector. The stabilizing means thus acts as a negative feedback loop and seeks to maintain the overall illumination irradiating the detector (i.e. the combined illumination that is reflected back from the sample and that is emitted by the GaAs diode), at a substantially constant predetermined level, which tends to linearize and extend the frequency response of the detector to the radiation detected.
