Ultrasound transducers for imaging and therapy

Ultrasound applicators able to both image a treatment site and administer ultrasound therapy include an array of transducer elements that can be focused. In several embodiments, an electronically phased array is used for controlling the focal point of an ultrasound beam. The ultrasound beam produced thereby can also be electronically steered. To reduce the quality factor or Q of the array when the array is used for imaging, an electronic switch is selectively closed, placing a resistance in parallel with each of the array elements. A flexible array is employed in several embodiments and is selectively bent or flexed to vary its radius of curvature and thus control the focal point and / or a direction of focus of the array. In another embodiment, each of the transducer elements comprising the array are individually mechanically pivotable to steer the ultrasonic beam produced by the transducer elements.

Imaging device

N separately-exposed images are serially captured in an additive-type image stabilization processing that generates one synthetic image having reduced influence due to camera shake by positioning and additively synthesizing a plurality of separately-exposed images. For each non-reference image (In), the strength (the degree of similarity) of a correlation between a reference image (Io) and each of the non-reference images is evaluated. Each of the non-reference image is determined whether valid or not according to the strength of each correlation. By using the reference image and valid ones of the non-reference images, a synthetic image is generated by additive synthesis.

Fusing Immediate Value, Write-Based Instructions in Instruction Processing Circuits, and Related Processor Systems, Methods, and Computer-Readable Media

Fusing immediate value, write-based instructions in instruction processing circuits, and related processor systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first instruction indicating an operation writing an immediate value to a register is detected by an instruction processing circuit. The circuit also detects at least one subsequent instruction indicating an operation that overwrites at least one first portion of the register while maintaining a value of a second portion of the register. The at least one subsequent instruction is converted (or replaced) with a fused instruction(s), which indicates an operation writing the at least one first portion and the second portion of the register. In this manner, conversion of multiple instructions for generating a constant into the fused instruction(s) removes the potential for a read-after-write hazard and associated consequences caused by dependencies between certain instructions, while reducing a number of clock cycles required to process the instructions.
