Method and apparatus for providing real-time animation utilizing a database of postures

A method and apparatus for animating a synthetic body part. The 3D-animation system and method use a database of basic postures. In a first step, for each frame, a linear combination of the basic postures from a database of basic postures is obtained by minimizing the Euclidean distance between the displacement of critical points. The displacement information is supplied externally, and typically can be obtained by observing the displacement of physical markers placed on a moving physical body part in the real world. For instance, the synthetic body part may be an expression of a human face and the displacement data are obtained by observing physical markers placed on the face of an actor. The linear combination of the postures in the database of postures is then used to construct the desired posture. Postures are constructed for each time frame and are then displayed consecutively to provide animation. A computer readable storage medium containing a program element to direct a processor of a computer to implement the animation process is also provided.

Material, log and lumber identification through video recognition

Systems and methods provide for identifying, tracking, and coordinating the processing of natural materials in a process. The unit material is scanned to determine natural physical characteristics. At least portions of these scanned characteristics are quantified and classified, then recorded as the unique identifier for the unit. The material may then be stored, shipped, or transferred to a further process, where the material is once again scanned for natural characteristics, compared to a library of previously recorded units and their characteristics, then processed, inventoried, tracked, or invoiced based on previous data associated with this specific unit, thereby eliminating the need for bar coding or other physical marking methods.

Defect Marking For Semiconductor Wafer Inspection

Methods and systems for accurately locating buried defects previously detected by an inspection system are described herein. A physical mark is made on the surface of a wafer near a buried defect detected by an inspection system. In addition, the inspection system accurately measures the distance between the detected defect and the physical mark in at least two dimensions. The wafer, an indication of the nominal location of the mark, and an indication of the distance between the detected defect and the mark are transferred to a material removal tool. The material removal tool (e.g., a focused ion beam (FIB) machining tool) removes material from the surface of the wafer above the buried defect until the buried defect is made visible to an electron-beam based measurement system. The electron-beam based measurement system is subsequently employed to further analyze the defect.

On-Chip Estimation of Key-Extraction Parameters for Physical Tokens

The present invention relates to a method and a device (11) using a physical token (14), which provides measurable parameters, to derive at least one data set. A plurality of values of one or more of the parameters are measured. From these measured values, a measure of variance is calculated. Quantization intervals into which a measured value is to be quantized are then determined. A possible value of a data set, which subsequently can be derived from a measured value provided by the physical token, is associated with each quantization interval. Further, information which subsequently enables determination of these quantization intervals is stored. Hence, an enrolling phase has been completed. When the preparing phase has been completed, a deriving phase may commence. When a data set is to be derived, for example to be used as a cryptographic key, a value of any one of the parameters provided by the PUF is measured. This measured value is quantized into a determined quantization interval, and a data set may be derived from the quantization interval into which the measured value is quantized.
