Cable grommet with ball and socket

A cable grommet with ball and socket is used in connection with an elongated member passing through a hole in a panel. The ball has a pair of opposed hemispherical members juxtaposed along a ball central axis and horizontal plane. The ball has a hole through it aligned with the central axis, to receive the elongated member. A socket supports and retains the ball securely, while allowing the ball to pivot in any direction. The socket has a pair of opposed cup members, each with a hemispherical cavity therein centered on a socket central axis and vertical plane. A pilot aligns the socket with the panel hole. The cup members each have two tabs projecting transversely from a semicircular flange. The tabs of the opposed cup members overlap. Each cup member has an upper and lower thickened brow portion on the cavity adjacent the flange ends to strengthen the cavity. An adapter allows mounting the grommet in an oversized panel hole.

Method and device for irrigation of body cavities

A pressure and a vision regulation method and device for irrigation of a body cavity (1), in which method an inflow liquid pump (2) pressurizes the irrigation liquid in a feed line (13) and in which an outflow device (3) or an external suction source (20) drains the irrigation liquid from the body cavity (1) through a tubing (16) into a waste container (17) and in which a control unit (4) controls either the inflow liquid pump (2) only or both the inflow liquid pump (2) and the outflow device (3) depending on an inflow irrigation liquid pressure from a pressure sensor (5), where the first control unit (4) compares the inflow irrigation liquid pressure and flow with pressures calculated to correspond to pressure in the body cavity for the respective flow for a nominal surgical site and that a matching between the calculated values and the inflow irrigation liquid pressures is made by altering the effect of either the inflow liquid pump (2) only or the inflow liquid pump (2) and / or the outflow device (3) and / or the shut off valve. The above-mentioned pressure registration method and the device for irrigation of a body cavity is combined with an method for detecting blood cells, red blood cells, haemoglobin and / or debris in liquid coming from a surgical site so an automatically control and rinsing system is achieved keeping a clear vision in the viewing area of the operational site.

Sulfoalkyl ether-alkyl ether cyclodextrin derivatives

A sulfoalkyl ether-alkyl ether cyclodextrin (SAE-AE-CD) derivative is provided. The SAE-AE-CD possesses advantages over known SAE-CD and AE-CD derivatives as well as over the parent cyclodextrin by being more water soluble and less membrane disturbing. The SAE-AE-CD includes at least one sulfoalkyl ether group and at least one alkyl ether group even though the degree of substitution for the functional groups can be different. The SAE functional group can be present in molar excess over the AE functional group and vice versa. The total degree of substitution of the cyclodextrin, with respect to both functional groups, can be varied such that a minority or a majority of the hydroxyl moieties of the CD are derivatized. The SAE-AE-CD derivative can be used to solubilize compounds with insufficient water solubility. In some cases, they also stabilize compounds in solution against degradation or to solubilize degradation products formed during degradation. In addition, SAE-AE-CD can also be used for other purposes such as osmotic agents, agents used to mask the taste of problematic drugs. Surprisingly, while AE-CDs are known to be toxic by being membrane disturbing, SAE-AE-CDs are less membrane disturbing and therefore have greater safety.

The present invention discloses a system and method for segmenting foreground and background in a video, wherein the system comprises: a video shooting module for shooting the video; a data reading module for reading each frame of the video; a primary segmentation module for establishing a plurality of Gaussian models in a first color space for each pixel of each frame, and performing a matching processing between each pixel of the current frame and the plurality of Gaussian models corresponding to the pixel, and primarily segmenting the pixels as foreground and background according to the result of the matching processing; and a segmentation rejudging module for performing a rejudging processing to the primarily segmented foreground and background in a second color space, so as to obtain the finally determined foreground and background. The present invention improves the effect of foreground segmentation by using the combination of the color spaces and introducing the relationship between pixels.

"w" accommodating intraocular lens with elastic hinges

An accommodating intraocular lens wherein the optic is moveable relative to the ends of extended haptic portions. The lens comprises an optic made from a flexible material combined with haptics capable of multiple flexions without breaking. Each haptic has in longitudinal cross section two wide and deep hinges to better allow the elastic hinges to “stretch” when the optic is subjected to posterior pressure thus allowing the optic to move forward relative to both the outer and inner ends of the haptics. When this movement is combined with the movement of the optic relative to the outer ends of the haptics, the anterior movement of the whole lens, and a change in shape of the optic, the refractive power of the eye is further enhanced.

Progressing cavity pump or motor

A progressing cavity pump or a motor includes, in one embodiment, an outer tube 12, an inner tube 14, and a plurality of apertures 16. A pair of annular seal glands 18 seal the stator material to the outer tube. The stator material is injection molded into the inner tube and passes through the plurality of apertures and into an annular gap between the inner tube and the outer tube. In other embodiments, the outer housing for a progressing cavity pump or motor is provided with one or more grooves, with each groove having an outer surface radius less than the outer housing surface radius. A plurality of apertures are provided in fluid communication with the grooves. According to the method of the invention, the stator material is injected into the apertures and fills a space radially outward of the apertures to bond the stator materiaal to the outer housing.

Fast Switching Arbitrary Frequency Light Source for Broadband Spectroscopic Applications

A fast switching arbitrary frequency light source for broadband spectroscopic applications. The light source may operate near 1.6 um based on sideband tuning using an electro-optic modulator driven by an arbitrary waveform generator. A Fabry-Perot filter cavity selects a single sideband of the light source. The finesse (FSR / ΔνFWHM) of the filter cavity may be chosen to enable rapid frequency switching at rates up to 5 MHz over a frequency range of 40 GHz (1.3 cm−1). The bandwidth, speed and spectral purity are high enough for spectroscopic applications where rapid and discrete frequency scans are needed. Significant signal-to-noise advantages may be realized using the rapid and broadband scanning features of this system in many areas of spectroscopy, e.g., process monitoring and control, reaction dynamics, and remote sensing (e.g., greenhouse gas monitoring, biological / chemical agent screening).
