The ultrasonic detecting apparatus comprises an ultrasonic detecting means and an object recognizing means connected to the ultrasonic detecting means. The object recognizing means identifies and tracks an object based on a visual feature and comprises a suspicious object acquisition module, a color information processing module, a contour information processing module, and a feature evaluation module which are successively connected, wherein the color information processing module performs conversion on an original frame image from a RGB color space to a HSV color space and constructs a hue color model of the suspicious object in the HSV color space, the contour information processing module is used for dividing the actual contour of the original frame image into characteristic areas and non-characteristic areas, merges the adjacent same type of areas and separately smoothes the merged characteristic areas and the merged non-characteristic areas by selecting filters with different parameters. The ultrasonic detecting apparatus has advantages of high recognition precision and fast recognition speed.
