A cushion subassembly includes a support, a cushion of non-woven polymeric (PET) or PETE fibers with a formed edge that wraps over an edge of the support, and an upholstery sock pulled onto and covering the support and the cushion. The formed edge has sufficient structure to retain the cushion in place on the support as the upholstery sock is pulled onto the support. A back support shell supports the cushion assembly, and has first fasteners that engage in a first direction and second fasteners that prevent disengagement. The cushion assembly is stressed during assembly, especially at corners, but is thermally stress-relieved after assembly to relax the polymeric fibers and the upholstery sock to a state of minimized balanced tension. The back support shell includes a shallow depression on its face. The cushion fills the depression sufficient to eliminate loose fabric but provides a same force deflection curve across its shape.

Pump control device, oil well with device and method

A method of operating an oil well comprises applying through a variable frequency drive AC electrical energy from a power grid to an AC electric motor to operate a drive mechanism of an oil well pump. The motor speed is regulated in a manner to optimize oil production and maximize the operational life of the drive mechanism, decreasing motor speed by transferring the electrical energy to the power grid and increasing motor speed by transferring the electrical energy from the power grid to the motor. The drive mechanism has a predetermined stroke cycle and, over the course of each stroke cycle, the motor is operated at different regulated speeds initiated when the drive mechanism is at a predetermined position in each stroke cycle.

Conformal lithium polymer battery

This invention is a method of fabricating a conformal lithium polymer battery comprising the steps of: selecting a slab of lithium polymer battery material of a desired height, containing a desired number of cells; freezing the slab; vertically cutting the slab to a desired shape; attaching a lead to each anode conductor; and attaching a lead to a each cathode conductor. The slab may contain one or many cells. The leads may be made of multistranded, metallic wire, metallic ribbon, low melting point alloy, self-healing metal, and litz wire. Attachment is accomplished so as to minimize tension on the leads. The cut slab may need to be deburred after cutting and before attaching leads. Preferably, burr formation is prevented by recessing the edge of the anodic or cathodic half cells. Lead attachment my be accomplished by: wire bonding; wedge bonding; adhesive bonding with conductive epoxy, anistotropic conductive adhesive or conductive thermoplastic; stapling; adhering the lead to the electrode by electropolymerization; welding; and growing a lead in place by electroless plating, electro-plating or a combination of electroless plating and electroplating. The distal ends of the leads may be connected together so that the cells are connected together in series, in parallel or some in series and the remainder in parallel. After the leads have been attached to the cut slab and connected together, the assembly will preferably be wrapped with standard packaging for lithium polymer batteries.

Multiple Tension Reducing Sprockets in a Chain and Sprocket System

ActiveUS20100292038A1Good effectDecrease in chain tensionGearingValve drivesResonanceSprocket
In chain and sprocket systems with at least two resonance modes, two or more tension reducing sprockets are oriented to cancel each other at a first resonance mode and have no effect to increase tensions at such first resonance mode. The tension reduction sprockets, however, are oriented with each other so that tensions will be reduced at a second resonance mode. Hence, two or more tension reducing sprockets are used to reduce tensions at a second resonance mode from sources outside the chain and sprocket system while minimizing tension increases at first resonance mode.
