A manipulator includes an operation command unit to be gripped by a hand, a composite input unit operable by a finger, a connector shaft extending from the operation command unit, and a working unit disposed on a distal end of the connector shaft. The working unit includes a yawing mechanism, a rolling mechanism, and an opening and closing mechanism. The composite input unit has a shuttle ring for actuating the rolling mechanism, and a pad for actuating the yawing mechanism. This invention is generally related to catheters for insertion into a body cavity, duct or vessel, and more particularly to a tip or plug for a catheter. The catheter tip is constructed and arranged to form a seal on the end portion of the catheter tube, while a sleeve secured or formed integrally to the tip cooperates with the catheter tube to form a first balloon that encapsulates the tip of the catheter and a second balloon that positions the catheter within the body cavity, duct or vessel.

Several techniques are disclosed for isolating either heart or breath rate data from a photoplethysmograph, which is a time domain signal such as from a pulse oximeter. The techniques involve the use of filtering in the frequency domain, after a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) has been conducted on a given photoplethysmograph also references as a given set of discrete time-domain data. The filtering may be applied to an identified fundamental frequency and one or more harmonics for heart related parameters. The filter may be truncated to the frequency data set and further applied multiple times to improve roll off. After filtering, an Inverse FFT (IFFT) is used to reconstruct the time-domain signal, except with undesirable frequency content eliminated or reduced. Calculation or measurement of parameters is then conducted on this reconstructed time-domain signal.

A surgical access port is provided for insertion through an incision in a patient and generally includes a flexible sleeve having a roller assembly provided at a proximal end of the flexible sleeve and a flexible ring affixed to a distal end of the flexible sleeve. A body fitment for an ostomy appliance comprises an adhesive wafer including a body-facing side for adhesively contacting the user's body. The adhesive wafer includes a moldable region shapable by the user, and a hole therethrough for allowing the user to manually mold a stomal aperture in the moldable region. The body fitment is provided with the inner peripheral region of the adhesive bordering the hole being pre-shaped with a non-planar configuration, e.g. bent or curled away from the body-facing side of the adhesive, prior to be being molded by the user. The invention concerns a seaming tape for seaming carpeting and other flexible materials, and method of seaming carpet thereby. The seaming tape is reinforced by rigid strips so that the seam does not visibly peak, profile, or otherwise bulge visibly when the flexible material is placed in tension in a direction perpendicular to the seam. The seaming tape comprises an adhesive, a reinforcing scrim, a flexible backing, and rigid strips that are aligned parallel to the scrim, on opposite sides of the longitudinal centerline of the scrim, and spaced apart a distance from the centerline of the scrim. The rigid strips are sized and placed so that after a seam is made using the tape, the rigid strips are on opposite sides of the seam and aligned parallel to the seam. When the seamed material is stretched, the rigid strips resist flexure, resulting in a seam that stays virtually flat and invisible.
