In the method, as key messages which are related to the dialing process and are captured at different positions of a link are monitored, and the key messages are analyzed and judged according to preset message existence, the sequence, the delay and other rules, the errors in the dialing process can be automatically identified, and two-layer and three-layer protocol fault diagnosis between a DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer)/an exchanger and the BRAS can be carried out. According to the method, not only can the errors be actively identified, and the historical fault messages are recalled, but also the abnormal dialing alarm can be conducted .
