Dental mirror, and an intraoral camera system using the same

An intraoral camera system is disclosed, which includes a dental mirror having a aperture for transmitting light therethrough, the aperture being provided in the center or any other part of the mirror by removing a reflective material therefrom. A CCD camera is secured on a back surface of the dental mirror in such a manner that the aperture coincides with its incident portion coincides with aperture in the dental mirror. A hand mirror shaped monitor is also provided for displaying image data received from the CCD camera via cable or radio, and a server is also provided that is capable of storing and outputting the image data any time onto the monitor, wherein even though a patient is laid down on a chair in a horizontal position, the patient or a third party can utilize the hand mirror shaped monitor to view an image which is very close to the image that a dentist views through reflection from the dental mirror having said CCD camera built therein.

Transparent anti-fog anti-splash coating compositions

The present invention is directed to an anti-fogging / anti-splash composition that can be used for anti-fog / anti-splash applications. When applied to the surface of a transparent or reflective substrate, the composition dries relatively clear and comprises a solution of a non-toxic, fast drying solvent or alcohol and a surface active agent containing sodium lauryl ether sulfate, and either a block ethylene oxide / polyethylene oxide copolymer, an ethoxylated amine, an ethoxylated acetylenic alcohol, sodium sulfosuccinate, ethoxylated sorbitan ester, random EO / PO polymers on butyl alcohol, or mixtures thereof. When applied to the surface of a substrate, the present invention provides a coating of high transparency which cures rapidly, is sufficiently surface active to be an anti-fog agent when "dry", will persist when "wet" under water spray conditions (such as on a dental mirror) for a period substantial enough to be practicable, and will provide anti-splash benefits throughout the use cycle.

Dental mirror

The invention relates to mirrors for use in confined spaces which are subject to being covered by fluids and debris, principally dental mirrors, for use by dentists and similar medical professionals. The mirror assembly includes a head portion and a handle portion. The head portion includes a housing with a rotor assembly and a rotor drive means. In accordance with the invention, a secondary member has a reflective surface. The mirror assembly includes attachment means for removably attaching the secondary member with respect to the rotor assembly so that the reflective surface can be replaced when degraded. In use, the rotor drive means spins the rotor assembly and with it the secondary member to remove fluids and debris that may fall on the reflective surface so that vision when using the reflective surface is not impaired by such fluids or debris. Advantageously the attachment means include magnetic components although mechanical attachment means may also be used. In a preferred embodiment, the handle portion includes a light source which may be moved between first and second positions for lighting the work zone of the mirror selectively as desired.

Self cleaning dental mirror

A self cleaning dental mirror having air orifices and water orifices integrated into the handle to clean the reflective surface. An air valve and a water valve are positioned within the handle and are operated by depressing appropriately positioned pushbuttons. The reflective surface itself is removable from the handle and replaceable. Alignment provisions between the reflective surface and handle insure that the reflective surface is properly positioned relative to the handle so that the air orifice and water orifice are directed at the reflective surface. A quick disconnect allows the self cleaning dental mirror to be readily connected and disconnected to air and water supply lines. The self cleaning dental mirror and all of its components are autoclavible.

A means for centrifugal cleaning of disposable dental mirror surface comprising a round reflective mirror, wherein the reflective mirror is fixed on a pallet, the lower end of the pallet is connected with a shaft, the shaft is arranged inside a base with a hollow cavity, inside the hollow cavity an impeller is arranged on the lower end of the shaft. An air inlet is arranged on one side of the cavity wall of the impeller; an air outlet is arranged on another side of cavity wall of the impeller; an air feeding tube connecting with the air inlet and an air exhaust tube connecting with the air outlet are arranged. Flowing air is fed to the air feeding tube from the compression air source connected thereto, impacting the vane of the pallet shaft and driving the reflective mirror to rotate, thus a centrifugal force is generated by the rotation of the reflective mirror and the attached water mist, liquid and dust are removed from the surface of the reflective mirror giving rise to a clean surface of the dental mirror. After one-time use, the compression air source can be detached and the dental observation mirror can be discarded. It has simple structure, low cost and convenient application.
