An automatic blood analysis and identification system permits patient identification and other vital information, such as blood type and Rh factor, to be automatically printed directly on a container holding a bodily fluid sample almost immediately after the sample has been drawn and analyzed. The invention provides a polymerase chain reaction-sequence based typing (PCR-SBT) method for ABO blood type genotyping.
