Oversampling pulse oximeter

An oversampling pulse oximeter includes an analog to digital converter with a sampling rate sufficient to take multiple samples per source cycle. In one embodiment, a pulse oximeter (100) includes two more more light sources (102) driven by light source drives (104) in response to drive signals from a digital signal processing unit (116). The source drives (104) may drive the sources (102) to produce a frequency division multiplex signal. The optical signals transmitted by the light sources (102) are transmitted through a patient's appendage (103) and impinge on a detector (106). The detector (106) provides an analog current signal representative of the received optical signals. An amplifier circuit (110) converts the analog current signal to an analog voltage signal in addition to performing a number of other functions. The amplifier circuit (110) outputs an analog voltage signal which is representative of the optical signals from the sources (102). This analog voltage signal is received by a fast A/D converter (112) which samples the analog voltage signal to generate a digital voltage signal which can be processed by the digital signal processing unit (116). The fast A/D converter (112) operates at a rate sufficient to take multiple samples per source cycle and may have a sampling frequency, for example, of over 41 kHz. The digital signal processing unit (116) implements software for averaging the samples over a source cycle for improved measurement consistency, improved signal to noise ratio and reduced A/D converter word length.

Oversampling pulse oximeter

An oversampling pulse oximeter includes an analog to digital converter with a sampling rate sufficient to take multiple samples per source cycle. In one embodiment, a pulse oximeter (100) includes two or more light sources (102) driven by light source drives (104) in response to drive signals from a digital signal processing unit (116). The source drives (104) may drive the sources (102) to produce a frequency division multiplex signal. The optical signals transmitted by the light sources (102) are transmitted through a patient's appendage (103) and impinge on a detector (106). Intelligent Chinese request-answering system based on concept

The invention discloses a Chinese question answering system based on concept, which mainly comprises a data server, a question pre-treatment module, a candidate question set extracting module and a question sentence similarity calculation module. The invention aims at providing a question answering system which is based on concept, can carry out synonym expansion of keywords which are processed by question sentences which are input by the user, understand question sentences better, carry out searching and improve the recall ratio of the question answering system. Furthermore, the system has a Chinese sentence similarity calculation method based on concept from three aspects: word form, word order and word length, and improves searching precision ratio. Meanwhile, the system adopts a high-efficiency retrieval technology to realize rapid extraction of candidate question set, calculates question sentence similarity, sorts question set quickly and returns the sorted questions and answers to the user. The question answering system of the invention gives more precise understanding in concept to the question sentences input by the user and searches the accurate answers. Experiments show that the question answering system of the invention achieves high recall ratio and precision ratio.

Digital multi-channel demultiplexer/multiplexer (MCD/M) architecture

A digital signal processing system for multiplexing/demultiplexing a large number of closely spaced FDM channels in which sub-band definition filtering divides the FDM spectral band comprised of "N" channels into "K" sub-bands in order to reduce the dimension of the polyphase filter fast Fourier transform structure required to complete the multiplexing/demultiplexing. This reduces the order of the required prototype filter by a factor proportional to K. The number of sub-bands K is chosen so that it is large enough to ensure the polyphase filter, fast Fourier transform structure for each sub-band is realizable within a finite word length, fixed point arithmetic implementation compatible with a low power consumption. To facilitate efficient sub-band definition filtering, the real basebanded composite signal is inputted at a spectral offset from DC equal to one quarter the FDM channel bandwidth for the N channels and the signal is sampled at a frequency 50% greater than the applicable Nyquist rate. The quarter band spectral offset and oversampling by 50% above the theoretical Nyquist rate facilitate the use of computationally efficient bandshift and symmetric half-band Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering.

A data optimization engine for optimizing selected frames of a first stream of data. The data optimization engine includes a transmit interface circuit coupled to an optimization processor, the transmit interface circuit being configured for receiving the first stream of data. The transmit interface circuit includes a traffic controller circuit for separating frames in the first stream of data into a first optimizable frame and a first non-optimizable frame, and an optimization front-end circuit coupled to the traffic controller circuit to receive at least a first portion of the first optimizable frame. The optimization front-end circuit includes a protocol conversion circuit configured to convert data in the first portion of the first optimizable frame from a first protocol to a second protocol suitable for processing by the optimization processor, the first protocol specifies a first word length, the second protocol specifies a second word length different from the first word length. The optimization front-end circuit further includes an end-of-optimization-file processing circuit, the end-of-optimization-file processing circuit flagging an end of the first portion of the first optimizable frame to the optimization processor, wherein the optimization processor is configured to optimize the first portion of the first optimizable frame by performing at least one of compression and encryption on the first portion of the first optimizable frame.

The invention relates to a distributed target tracking method suitable under a camera network, and belongs to the technical field of the camera network, distributed processing and target tracking application. The method includes the steps of performing motion prediction and estimation for a target monitored by each camera using square root cubature information filtering; performing information interaction among the cameras through communication, and then performing distributed data fusion of the information using a mean consistency method; and finally, obtaining a stable tracking result through multiple iterations so as to achieve target tracking under the camera network. Compared with the prior art, the method of the invention takes relevant noise between process noise and measurement noise into consideration so that a system with the presence of the relevant noise can also achieve the application of target tracking; the use of the square root cubature information filtering allows the system to avoid the falling into the finite word-length problem of a processor, and meanwhile, the combination of the weighted mean consistency method allows the application in a distributed environment by the system; and the robustness of the method is enhanced while the tracking accuracy is improved.

Finite field serial-serial multiplication/reduction structure and method

The present invention contemplates a method or cryptographic system for communicating securely over an insecure communication channel of the type which communicates a message from a transmitter to a receiver. The method includes the step of providing a finite filed serial-serial multiplication/reduction structure wherein an initial delay and clock-cycle are inherently independent of word length and wherein input operands are serially entered one digit at a time and the output result is computed serially one digit at a time, wherein the digit size can be one bit or more. As disclosed, the multiplication structure is scalable and a serial transfer reduces the bus width needed to transfer data back and forth between memory and a multiplication/reduction step. A finite field multiplication structure in which an operand multiplication and a finite field reduction are formulated as a serial-serial computation is also disclosed. Further, a digit serial-serial finite field multiplication/reduction method and structure as an integral operation in a cryptographic system is disclosed. In such methods and structures, the inherent word length independence of the initial delay is achieved by defining both operand multiplication and field reduction as serial-serial computation. In such computations, all of the numbers needed for the computation are fed serially one digit at a time. Therefore, the inter-connection between the memory module and the multiplier module need only to support the transfer of data one digit at a time.
