Film deposition apparatus and film deposition method

The present invention is a film deposition apparatus configured to deposit a film on a substrate that has been loaded into a vacuum container via a transfer opening and placed on a table in the vacuum container, by supplying a process gas to the substrate from a process-gas supply part opposed to the table under a vacuum atmosphere, while heating a table surface of the table, the film deposition apparatus comprising: an elevating mechanism configured to vertically move the table between a process position at which the substrate is subjected to a film deposition process, and a transfer position at which the substrate is transferred to and from an external transfer mechanism that has entered from the transfer opening; a surrounding part configured to surround the table with a gap therebetween, when the table is located at the process position, so that the surrounding part and the table divide an inside of the vacuum container into an upper space, which is located above the table, and a lower space, which is located below the table; a vacuum exhaust conduit in communication with the upper space, through which a process atmosphere in the upper space is discharged to create a vacuum in the upper space; a heating unit configured to heat a gas contact region ranging from the upper space to the vacuum exhaust conduit, to a temperature higher than a temperature allowing adhesion of reactant; and a heat insulation part disposed between the heating unit and a lower part of the vacuum container surrounding the lower space.

System and methods for mapping and searching objects in multidimensional space

This invention relates to a system and methods for determining the placement of an object in a distributed key-value store by mapping the object to nodes in multidimensional hyperspace. A search function supports efficient object retrieval, even when the search query requests multiple objects and specifies them through non-primary keys. In response to a search query, the search is translated into hyperregions in the hyperspace to determine the set of nodes that hold the queried data object. The number of contacted nodes and the number of scanned objects are significantly reduced in comparison to prior art techniques.

Method and system for detecting intrusion into and misuse of a data processing system

Disclosed is a Security Indications and Warning (SI&W) Engine usable in conjunction with an audit agent. The audit agent forwards normalized audits to the SI&W Engine. The SI&W Engine groups the normalized audits into related groupings. Gauges are used to count the number of occurrences of audited events. A statistical engine provides statistical representations of the number of events per user, per session and per node. A predetermined number of criteria are defined a particular gauge or gauge pair. There may be many criteria for a particular network. When a predetermined number of criteria within a criteria set are triggered, an indicator is triggered. More complex indicators can use combinations of lower level indicators to provide further indications of potential security threads. Thus, a hierarchical system of gauges, criteria and indicators is used to measure boundary violations and breaches of different barriers. Advantageously, because there are no predefined scenarios or profiles that must be performed by a potential misuser or intruder, the SI&W Engine of the present invention is capable of indicating that a potential security threat exists in near-real time.

Noise-reducing directional microphone array

In one embodiment, a directional microphone array having (at least) two microphones generates forward and backward cardioid signals from two (e.g., omnidirectional) microphone signals. An adaptation factor is applied to the backward cardioid signal, and the resulting adjusted backward cardioid signal is subtracted from the forward cardioid signal to generate a (first-order) output audio signal corresponding to a beampattern having no nulls for negative values of the adaptation factor. After low-pass filtering, spatial noise suppression can be applied to the output audio signal. Microphone arrays having one (or more) additional microphones can be designed to generate second- (or higher-) order output audio signals.

Quality of displayed images with user preference information

The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for increasing the perceived quality of displayed images. This is achieved in a variety of ways including the use of a plurality of device specific display characteristics when preparing images for display. It is also achieved through the monitoring of display device and / or ambient light conditions, e.g., on a periodic basis, and using the obtained information when controlling display output. Another approach to improving the perceived quality of displayed images involves the use of information relating to a specific user's ability to perceive image characteristics such as color. By customizing display output to an individual user's own physical perception capabilities and / or viewing characteristics it is possible to enhance the image quality perceived by the individual viewer as compared to embodiments which do not take into consideration individual user characteristics.

System and method for managing information for a plurality of computer systems in a distributed network

A system for managing computers in a distributed computer network includes a collection agent for each computer being monitored, a local database coupled to each collection agent, one or more condensing agents coupled to the databases, and at least one console module. The condensing agent generates an index table from a source database and sends it upstream to the next level up in the hierarchy of databases. Other condensing agents may in turn act on this index table and send it up to a still further level, until a top-level master node has an index table reflecting the entire network. The console can use the index table to identify what databases contain needed data, and then make only selective connections to databases to answer queries, avoiding connections to all the local databases. The condensing agent also produces summarized data and sends it upstream as well, to be used by the console. Efficiency is improved over conventional systems. Use of the index method and the summary method can be transparent to (hid from) the user of the console, or may be made visible, with selection options.

An electrode system for reducing noise from an electronic signal, the system including an electrode that provides the electronic signal, and a sensor that senses motion and provides a motion signal. The electrode system includes a controller that determines a noise value based on an analysis of the motion signal, and subtracts the noise value from the electronic signal. The electrode system can reduce or eliminate motion artifact from an electronic signal that can result in misdiagnosis, prolong procedural duration and inappropriate treatment of a patient.

Method for user input from the back panel of a handheld computerized device

The present invention relates to a handheld computerized device with a bit mapped display screen on the front panel, and a touchpad installed on the back panel. More particularly, the invention relates to a method and graphical user interface that enable the user to see the user's finger position and motion from behind the device superimposed upon a virtual keyboard layout on the front panel. This allows the user to use a touchpad keypad on the back of the device to input keystrokes and mouse actions, and these will be reflected on the display screen on the front of the handheld computerized device as “virtual fingers” or equivalent.

Enhanced acoustic detection of gas leaks in underground gas pipelines

A method for locating gas leaks from underground gas pipelines in which a first acoustic sensor having a first signal output is positioned in ground disposed substantially above or at a distance from the underground gas pipeline. At least one second acoustic sensor having a second signal output is positioned in the ground at a plurality of locations substantially above the underground gas pipeline. The output signals from the acoustic sensors are measured for each location of the second acoustic sensor and the signals are adaptively filtered to remove common noise signal components. The statistical minima of these rms voltages are determined for both the first output signal and the adaptively filtered second output signals and the differences determined. The location of the second acoustic sensor corresponding to the largest positive said difference is the location closest to the leak site.
