Method and system for a static magnetic read/write head

The present invention enables reading from and writing onto a magnetic stripe medium with a static read / write head that does not require relative linear motion between the magnetic stripe medium and the head while reading or writing takes place. The reading and writing is accomplished using a stationary uni-dimensional, bi-dimensional, or multi-dimensional conductor array addressing and driving current through an individual conductor element. Reading from magnetic stripe is accomplished by using magnetic flux sensing method such as a fluxgate.

Method and system for data writing/reading onto/from and emulating a magnetic stripe

A method of writing data on magnetic stripe of a smart card by imposing a magnetic field of a given polarity on each selected segment of the magnetic stripe, such that data on the magnetic stripe can be read by a magnetic card reader and interpreted as digital bits. The method includes providing a multi-dimensional conductor array placed proximate to the magnetic stripe, the number of conductors in the array is considerably smaller than the number of segments, and each segment is associated with two or more conductors. The method further includes providing current drivers for sending currents in a controlled direction through the conductor array. The system further includes sending currents, using said current drivers, through conductors of the array, such that for each one of the selected segment composite currents flowing through its associated two conductors overcome the coersivity of the segment on the magnetic stripe.

Card recording apparatus

The present invention provides a card recording apparatus capable of printing in high speed as well as reducing overall dimensions of the apparatus. After a card is transported to an information recording section 200 in a lateral (short length) direction of the card, an information signal is recorded on the card thereby. Then, the card is transported to a second heating section 300. An ink image formed on an intermediate recording medium 7 by a first heating section 500 is re-transferred to the card by the second heating section 300. A warp developed on the card by the second heating section 300 is corrected by a card warp correcting section 400.

Media processing device and method of controlling a media processing device

Maintenance requirements are reduced by using only a subset of the functions of a media processing device having plural function units for processing processed media. When a control unit of the media processing device receives a command from a host computer to disable a function of an inkjet printer unit disposed to a conveyance path for the processed media or to disable a function of a contact image sensor unit disposed to the conveyance path, a function-disabled mode is entered that disables the specified function. While in the function-disabled mode, detected operating errors related to the disabled function are not reported to the host computer.

Magnetic marking system, method and machine for producing the same

The invention relates to a marking system ( 1 )comprising wires ( 5 ) exhibiting ultrasoft ferromagnetic properties. Said wires are arranged on or in a carrier ( 2 ) and are associated with pre-established parallel positions ( 4 ) which are separated by a constant gap (e) according to a pre-established frame. The wires ( 5 ) can be present or absent in each position ( 4 ), forming a detectable binary code. The inventive marking system ( 1 ) can especially be embodied as a magnetically coded label. The invention also relates to a method for producing one such marking system by continuously incorporating ferromagnetic wires ( 5 ) into an adhesive complex ( 2, 3 ). The inventive marking system is used to identify and authenticate articles, products or objects.

Programmable magnetic data tag

There is described a programmable tag susceptible to magnetic interrogation using an interrogating magnetic field, the tag comprising: (a) a plurality of saturable magnetic structures (310) for non-linearly coupling the interrogating magnetic field into a corresponding response magnetic field; (b) reversibly programmable magnetic regions (330) for applying offset magnetic fields to the magnetic structures for modifying their non-linear coupling characteristics. The tag is susceptible to being mass-produced from a continuous strand of tag material severed to produce individual tags. The tag is of advantage in that it can be reversibly programmed. There is also described a method of recording data on the tag, the method including the steps of: (c) bringing the tag in close proximity to a recording apparatus; and (d) applying a magnetising magnetic field to each of the magnetic regions (330) for modifying a magnetic field retained therein to which its associated saturable structure is subjected.
