Method of navigating a collection of interconnected nodes

A method and apparatus for organizing and processing interconnected pieces of information (“nodes”) using a digital computer is disclosed. Each node has elements that may be text, images, audio, video, and other computer programs. A graph-based user interface presents the individual nodes in spatial arrangements that reflect the relationships among the nodes. User interaction indicating interest in a particular node results in an increase in the “activation” of that node. This leads to an increase in the size of the presentation of that node, as well as an increase in the size of the presentation of closely related nodes. The result is a unique user interaction paradigm that allows for intuitive traversal of complex collections of nodes.

Terminal Device With Display Function

[Object] It is an object of the present invention to make it possible to easily select a desired image from stored images in a terminal device with a display function such as a cell phone.[Constitution] If a display state is switched to a second display state after one of files is selected from a list of thumbnail images M5 in a first display state, a display controller 110 executes a comparison mode. In the comparison mode, the display controller 110 displays a magnified image M7 of the selected file on a first display area 11a at a size suitable for the number of magnified images M7 displayed on the first display area 11a at that time, i.e., at such a size that the magnified images M7 can just stay within the first display area 11a as large as possible.

Glucose meter adaptable for use with handheld devices, and associated communication network

Module adaptable to communicate with a suitable handheld devices or PDAs. Suitable devices include, but are not limited to, the Apple iPhone® or iPod®, Research in Motion Blackberry® smart phones, Motorola Droid smart phones, and Palm Pre smart phones. The module can be used without adding to the cost of the handheld device. This allows direct reimbursement for the replaceable meter module portion if payers choose to limit coverage for the full system, as well as the possibility of reimbursement for the entire system including the handheld device. Other solutions build the cost into the phone, which must be replaced to upgrade or replace the glucose function. Moreover, information from the glucose meter reading can be communicated from the PDA to a remote station for reporting the results. With an iPod-like approach, this could be accomplished without the need for a cellular signal or carrier, as long as a WiFi internet connection is available anywhere in the world.

Graphical user interface and method for displaying market data and entering trading orders

A method, and a graphical user interface and communicating user input device, for use in electronic trading an instrument on an electronic exchange having an inside market. Aligned dyamic bid, dynamic offer and dynamic price ladders are displayed, either in conventional grid format or in “price wheels” or other spatial configurations, which may include regions of expanded and compressed data to enhance both trader viewing and spatial and trading efficiency. Using the present invention, order parameters for a potential trade order may be displayed using an initial single user action; during display, the dynamic price ladder may continue to move, and may be displayed, without affecting the display of selected order parameters. Different order parameters may also be selected and, when desired, via a final single user action, a trade with the desired order parameters may be executed (i.e., sent to the electronic exchange). Other advantages of the present invention will be understood from the description and claims.

Computer system providing hands free user input via optical means for navigation or zooming

A system and method are described for selectively providing display data to a display device dependent upon an optically detected proximity of a user's face to a camera. One embodiment of a computer system includes the camera, the display device, and a processing system. The camera produces image signals representing a first image and a second image of the user's face, wherein the first image precedes the second image in time. The processing system receives the image signals and analyzes the first and second images to determine the proximity of the user's face to the camera. More specifically, the processing system compares the first and second images to determine the proximity of the user's face to the camera in the second image relative to the proximity of the user's face in the first image. The processing system provides the display data to the display device dependent upon the proximity of the user's face to the camera. In order to determine the proximity of the user's face to the camera, the processing system may compare: (i) a size of the user's face in the first and second images, and / or (ii) a distance between selected facial features of the user in the first and second images. The processing system may provide more of the display data to the display device when the user's face is closer to the camera, and may provide less of the display data to the display device when the user's face is farther from the camera.

Spacial image display

When a two-dimensional display section including a plurality of pixels of p colors and a lenticular lens slanted with respect to a pixel array are combined to emit a plurality of light rays corresponding to a plurality of viewing angles into space by surface segmentation at the same time. Moreover, relative positional relationship between each cylindrical lens and each pixel of the two-dimensional display section is periodically changed to periodically displace the emission direction of display image light from each pixel via each cylindrical lens. Images corresponding to a unit frame of a three-dimensional image are time-divisionally displayed on the two-dimensional section, and a timing of time-divisional display in the two-dimensional display section 1 and a timing for changing relative positional relationship are synchronously controlled. Thereby, stereoscopic display with higher definition using a combination of a surface segmentation system and a time-division system is performed.
