An electric parking brake assembly includes an electric motor having an output shaft, a control module coupled to the electric motor for controlling the electric motor and a transmission coupling a threaded lead screw to the output shaft of the electric motor. The drive nut also has a cable attachment for attaching a brake cable to the drive nut. The cable attachment has a central axis offset from a central axis of the lead screw and is preferably located midway between the lead screw bore and the guide shaft bore. The control module controls the electric motor such that rotation of the output shaft causes motion of the transmission and rotation of the lead screw, rotation of the lead screw causes linear motion of the drive nut along the lead screw and the guide shaft, and linear motion of the drive nut causes tensioning and untensioning of the brake cable. The assembly preferably includes a manual override device operatively connected to the lead screw. The manual override device selectively causes manual rotation of the lead screw, rotation of the lead screw causes linear motion of the drive nut, and linear motion of the drive nut causes tensioning and untensioning of the brake cable.

A yoke assembly for a stator of a starter motor is disclosed including auxiliary poles and magnet springs, with each of auxiliary poles and each of the magnet springs taking the form of a subassembly. The subassembly, composed of each of the auxiliary poles preliminarily mounted on each of the magnet springs, is fixedly secured to an inner peripheral wall of a yoke. This allows the subassemblies to be easily assembled to the yoke in the same process as that in which a yoke assembly is assembled using the magnet springs in the absence of the auxiliary poles, providing assembling processes in common with an increase in mass production effect.

An electric actuator for an automatic transmission includes an adapter to transmit rotary motion between the adapter and the transmission. An electric motor has an output shaft operably connected the adapter by a gear set which includes a ring gear. A release mechanism includes a solenoid which selectively moves a lock member. In a first position, the lock member engages the ring gear to lock the ring gear so that the adapter is rotated by rotary motion of the output shaft and the adapter rotates to a predetermined zone about a desired gear position. In a second position, the lock member is out of engagement with the ring gear to permit rotation of the ring gear so that the adapter is rotated by internal forces of the transmission and the adapter automatically self-aligns to the exact desired gear position when the adapter is within the predetermined zone.
