According to the present invention, there is disclosed a hand-held system and a method for detecting the presence of fecal contamination or ingesta on objects, such as a protein source, a worker's hands or utensils. In one embodiment, there is included a system comprised of a housing having a first end, where said housing supports a light source which emits light out of said housing first end having a wavelength effective to elicit fluorescence at a wavelength between 660 to 680 nm, and a light filter allowing the user to distinguish light at a wavelength between about 660 to 680 nm from any other light the vicinity of the object. The detection of light at a wavelength between about 660 to 680 nm indicates the presence of fecal contamination or other ingesta. There is also disclosed a method of using such a device to detect the presence of such contamination, optionally including further steps to identify the source of any contamination and to modify any practices so that the spread of contamination may be reduced.

Process and machine for producing lightweight thermoplastic composite products in a continuous manner

A machine and a process for producing lightweight thermoplastic composite products in a continuous manner is disclosed. An oven is provided for heating a dry unconsolidated fabric sheet of commingled fibers of thermoplastic and re-enforcing fibers or carbon fibers to a temperature sufficient to ensure melting and flow of the resin in the voids of the commingled fibers. The unconsolidated composite sheet is conveyed through the oven and then through a first pair of heated rollers at an outlet of the oven whereby to maintain the fabric sheet heated to prevent abrupt cooling at the surfaces while compressing it under pressure. A further pair of rollers at a further reduced temperature is provided whereby the heated sheet is gradually lowered in temperature and the pressure is maintained thereon during consolidation of the commingled fibers to ensure complete flow of the resin in the voids between the reinforcing fibers. The continuous composite consolidated sheet can then be processed to sheet form, or laminated in a sandwich, or profiled whereby to form a desired product.

The invention discloses a method for performing automatic surfacing repair on a damaged metal part, which is a technical scheme used for performing automatic surfacing repair aiming at the missing part on the damaged metal part. In the method, a measuring robot and an arc welding robot are involved, wherein the measuring robot consists of a structured light sensor and a six-freedom-degree mechanical arm; and the arc welding robot consists of a welding gun and a six-freedom-degree robotic arm. The system works according to the following steps of: first, fixing a damaged part to be repaired on a working table, and scanning the damaged part by using the measuring robot to obtain three-dimensional surface point cloud data of the damage of the part; then, performing registration (geometric alignment) on the three-dimensional surface point cloud data and an original CAD model of the metal part, and extracting the point cloud data of a damaged area by calculating the error from the point cloud data to the CAD model; and finally, generating a surfacing repair path according three-dimensional information of the damaged area, and controlling the arc welding robot to finish the automatic repair of the damaged area of the part by using a computer.

The present invention, among other things, provides technologies for detecting and / or quantifying nucleic acids in cells, tissues, organs or organisms. Pre-designed barcodes are associated specific molecular targets through sequential hybridization experiments. A pseudo-color based barcoding scheme is developed to overcome limitations in the previous generation of the technology such as lack of visual signals that can be associated with the probes or small internal within cell when carrying out in situ experiments. The current method can be applied to both in vitro and in situ analysis. According to the method, each barcoding round comprises multiple serial hybridizations where a small number of colored signals (that are associated with probes) are used in each hybridization experiment within a serial hybridization round. Images from each serial hybridization experiment within the same serial hybridization round are combined to form a composite image for each barcoding round. In each barcoding round, the same set of molecular targets are analyzed. After all barcoding rounds are completed, associated of the barcode with these molecular targets is completed.
