Endoscope structures and techniques for navigating to a target in branched structure

Systems and methods employing a small guage steerable catheter (30) including a locatable guide (32) with a sheath (40), particularly as an enhancement to a bronchoscope (14). A typical procedure is as follows. The location of a target in a reference coordinate system is detected or imported. The catheter (30) is navigated to the target which tracking the distal tip (34) of the guide (32) in the reference coordinate system. Insertion of the catheter is typically via a working channel of a convention bronchoscope. Once the tip of the catheter is positioned at the target, the guide (32) is withdrawn, leaving the sheath (40) secured in place. The sheath (40) is then used as a guide channel to direct a medical tool to target.

Cone beam type of X-ray CT system for three-dimensional reconstruction

An X-ray CT system is equipped with a gantry, couch and control cabinet and configured to scan a cone-beam X-ray toward an object along a given orbit to acquire cone-beam data in which a three-dimensional distribution of an X-ray absorption coefficient within the object is reflected. The control cabinet decides a degree of reliability for the cone-beam data according to an acquisition time of the cone-beam data, and then decides a weight for three-dimensional Radon data from the cone-beam data on the basis of the degree of reliability. Using this weight, the control cabinet reconstructs the three-dimensional Radon data based on a three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm. Thus, when the three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm for cone-beam CT is applied to medical CT, artifacts attributable to object's motion can be suppressed and temporal resolution can be improved.

Video aware traffic management

A multiplexer selectively chooses packets for discarding during periods of congestion. In a first embodiment, thresholds for fill levels of a FIFO queue are set for a plurality of priority types. As thresholds are exceeded, incoming packet below a set priority level will be prevented from entering the queue and packets at the front of the queue below the set priority will be discarded. In a second embodiment, packets within a queue may be marked for deletion. A forward / discard list assigns an index to a new packet and maintains a list of the stream associated with each packet. A priority index list maintains a list of packets for each priority type by index number. A video metadata buffer stores the metadata for each enqueued packet. A physical video buffer stores the packets. When an incoming packet cannot be enqueued, packets of lower priority are detected by reference to the index list and marked for discard.

Method for Obtaining Structural Information Concerning an Encoded Molecule and Method for Selecting Compounds

In one aspect, the present invention relates to a method for obtaining structural information about an encoded molecule. The encoded molecule may be produced by a reaction of a plurality of chemical entities and may be capable of being connected to an identifier oligonucleotide containing codons informative of the identity of the chemical entities which have participated in the formation of the encoded molecule. In a certain embodiment, primers are designed complementary to the codons appearing on the identifier oligonucleotide, and the presence, absence or relative abundance of a codon is evaluated by mixing a primer with the identifier oligonucleotide in the presence of a polymerase and substrate (deoxy)ribonucleotide triphosphates and measuring the extension reaction. In another aspect, the invention provides a method for selecting compounds which binds to a target. More specifically, the invention relates to a method in which a target associated with an oligonucleotide initially is mixed with a library of complexes, each complex comprising a display molecule and an oligonucleotide identifying said display molecule. Next, due an increased proximity, the target oligonucleotide is coupled to the identifier oligonucleotide of complexes having a display molecule with affinity towards the target. In a final stage the coupled nucleotides are analysed to deduce at least the identity of the display molecule.

Apparatus and process for removing liquids from drill cuttings

Drill cuttings associated with drilling fluid are thermally cleaned. The wet cuttings are fed into a vessel chamber having mechanical mixers, such as ribbon blenders, extending lengthwise of the chamber. Direct heating is applied to the chamber contents by introducing hot combustion gas from a heater. A combination of direct heating and mechanical back mixing of wet colder cuttings with drier hotter cuttings results in conditioning and conduction heating of the wet cuttings. The drilling fluid is evaporated and removed as gas. Dried cuttings are separately recovered. Caking and agglomeration of the solids is reduced.
