Suspension arrangement

Vehicle suspension having a control arm pivotally mounted to vehicle body. Wheel support is pivotally mounted to the control arm. A hydraulic strut is pivotally mounted to body at trunnion mount. The wheel may be protracted to be placed vertically on the road surface or retracted at an angle, for example to allow good marine performance in an amphibious vehicle. Strut may be extended or retracted by hydraulic fluid pumped through ports and may also be used for wheel springing and damping. As trunnion mount is part way up the strut, the strut can pivot out of the way of the retracing wheel. A second control arm may also be fitted; this may be part of a double wishbone wheel suspension.

Cab suspension

A suspension for a cab base on the frame of a swather tractor includes four dampened springs at the four corners with three links each pivoted on one end of the frame and the other end on the base. The links include two parallel links in the fore and aft direction parallel to the mechanical speed control link arm and one side to side link which constrain movement of the base against fore and aft movement and side to side movement parallel to the mechanical steering control link arm. This arrangement restricts movement of the base while allowing roll and pitch movements of the cab structure with the links arranged such that steering and ground speed are substantially unaffected when the cab moves on the suspension.

Snowmobile suspension

An improved rear suspension assembly is provided for snowmobiles, which includes a link assembly operatively connecting the rear suspension arm to a front cushion absorber so that the pivot movement of the rear suspension arm actuates the front shock absorber assembly. In one embodiment of the present invention, a rocker arm is pivotally attached to the slide frame assembly and has a front end thereof pivotally attached to the front shock absorber assembly, and has a rear end pivotally attached through a link rod to the rear suspension arm. The present invention advantageously improves the dynamic response of the rear suspension during snowmobile acceleration, and therefore prevents the skis of the snowmobile from lifting off from the ground.
