A bicycle suspension assembly may be in the form of a bicycle front suspension fork. The suspension fork may include a pair of telescoping fork legs. In one arrangement, a suspension spring and a damper are provided in only one of the pair of fork legs. The suspension spring assembly may include a negative spring. In one arrangement, the negative spring is a dual stage negative gas spring in which a negative spring gas chamber includes a first chamber section and a second chamber section. A solid state silicon micromachined acceleration and Coriolis (MAC) sensor that measures linear and angular motion. The MAC sensor is a single device that performs the functions of a conventional accelerometer and a gyroscope simultaneously. The MAC sensor is unique in that it is a differential dual stage device using only one micromachined proof mass to measure both linear and angular motions. The single proof mass is connected to opposing electromechanical resonators in a monolithic microstructure made from single crystal silicon. This unique design offers improvements in measurement performance and reductions in fabrication complexity that are beyond the state the art of earlier micromachined inertial sensors.

A transmission line equalizer, communication system, and method are provided for adaptively compensating for changes in transmission path length and transmission path medium. Within the equalizer is a filter that exhibits a high pass characteristic and, more specifically, has an inverse frequency response to that of the transmission path. The inverse filter can include a pair of amplifier stages coupled in parallel, with a mixer chosen to adaptively select portions of one stage over than of the other. The dual stage inverse filter can, therefore, adapt to greater transmission path lengths and / or attenuation. A feedback architecture is used to set the inverse filter response by measuring the amplitude of a communication signal output from the inverse filter during periods of low frequency. A peak detector will capture a peak-to-peak voltage value during those periods, and adjust the output of the slicer to match a launch amplitude of the communication signal. The peak detector within the feedback architecture helps ensure the predicted amplitude matches the launch amplitude to minimize over-compensation or under-compensation even though a different integrator might register no difference in integrated voltage or energy at the output of the inverse filter compared to the output of the slicer.

The dirt cup is connected to the cyclone main body. The dirt cup includes a first particle collector and a second particle collector. The first particle collector communicates with the first stage separator for collecting dust particles from the first stage separator. The separate second particle collector communicates with the plurality of second stage separators for collecting dust particles from the second stage separators.

A refrigeration apparatus (7200) includes a heat pump circuit (7201) and a power generation circuit (7100). The power generation circuit (7100) includes an evaporator (701) including a first and a second heat exchanger (710a, 710b), a turbine (702), a condenser (703) and a pump (704). The housing (20) deforms due to the pressure of inflation fluid in the housing upon actuation of one or both of the inflation fluid sources (240, 250). The flow area of the fluid passage (90) increases due to deformation of the housing (20) and varies in accordance with the pressure of inflation fluid in the housing.

A passenger airbag assembly having a first cushion and a second cushion is disclosed. An inflator mechanism that independently inflates the first cushion and the second cushion may also be added. The inflator mechanism may either be a dual stage inflator or two separate inflators. Preferably, the airbag assembly is designed such that the inflator mechanism begins the inflation of the first cushion prior to beginning the inflation of the second cushion. A housing may also be added to the airbag assembly. The housing encloses the inflator mechanism and is attached to the first cushion and the second cushion. The airbag assembly may be designed such that when the first cushion and the second cushion are inflated, the second cushion is positioned between the first cushion and the vehicle's windshield. A piezoelectric actuated suspension with passive damping is disclosed for precision positioning of hard disk drive while reducing undesired shock vibrations. Along the longitudinal axis of an etched suspension, two piezoelectric actuators dispose near the base plate to provide a push-pull motion. The actuators have two main portions. The first portion is piezoelectric elements to provide active positioning. The second portion is viscoelastic damping layers underneath the piezoelectric elements for passive damping. The complementary parts such as stiff edge elements and optional soft boundary covers are used to enhance the actuating abilities of the actuators and prevent any contaminants of the viscoelastic layers from going into the clean sealed chamber of the hard disk drive, respectively. The present invention further relates to a dual-stage servo system in a hard disk drive for fine positioning of the read / write head and better shock resistance via the piezoelectric actuated suspension with passive damping.

The de-interlacing architecture adopts a perceptual model to measure membership probabilities for a collection of image samples of an interlaced video source with respect to extracted static, motion, and texture image components of the same collection. The probabilities are used to prioritize contributions from the three image components and produce a progressive video sequence which is a summation of the portions of the aforementioned components. The perceptual model uses a dual-stage motion-based image difficulty measuring scheme to equalize contributions from the three image components in a manner that video artifacts in the output signal are least perceptive. A parameter mapping technique composed of several logic units, a decision function, a weight assignment block, and a look-up table, will be presented to derive the final component weights. A system and method using a connection plate to electrically couple a magnetic read / write head to a printed circuit assembly. The connection plate has a set of contact pads to control reads and a set of contact pads to control. The printed circuit assembly also allows control of the micro-actuator arms. The connection plate can be attached to a framing assembly of the micro-actuator by laser welding or by using an ultraviolet cured epoxy.

A dual-stage regular expression pattern matching method and system is proposed, which is designed for integration to a data processing system, such as a computer platform, a firewall, a network intrusion detention system (NIDS), or a DNA sequence analysis system, for checking whether an input code sequence (such as a network data packet) is matched to specific patterns predefined by regular expressions. A pair of secondary actuators are mounted in longitudinally overlapping relationship with the mounting configuration so as to minimize the impact of the secondary actuators on suspension length. The secondary actuators are operatively connected to the hinge for producing sway displacement of the slider.

A metal card or a hybrid metal-plastic includes an acrylic resin protective clear coat layer and / or a “hard” nano-particle top-coat layer overlying any exposed metal surface in order to insulate the metal and reduce the likelihood of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) or a short circuit condition. The present invention is directed to an alternative compact portable filtration device that can be used in remote locations and includes a single filtration cartridge that provides redundant filtration of the fluid (water). In particular, the device is a dual stage ultrafilter cartridge (apparatus) that is constructed and designed to provide a portable device that can be used in the field, such as during camping or military assignment, and offers two filtration stages (redundant filtration) within a single housing.

A dual stage actuated (DSA) suspension includes a dam-like structure that holds epoxy along the outside lateral side of the PZT microactuators while that epoxy hardens. In the illustrative embodiment, the dam-like structure is in the form of a wing rail that is integrally formed with the suspension base plate, and extends parallel to the outside face of the PZT. The wing rail has an upturned edge to help contain the epoxy while it hardens. The wing rail has springs at its fore and aft ends so that the rail does not unduly limit movement of the PZTs and hence microactuator stroke length. The wing rail does not touch the PZT electrodes. The encapsulation dam allows epoxy to be dispensed after the PZT has been located on the suspension, so as to substantially cover all sides of the PZT and thus prevent the shedding of contaminating particles during operation.
