An integrated optical sensor, using low coherence interferometry, is capable of determining analyte concentration in a material sample based on absorption, scattering and polarization. The sensor includes one or more light collectors, with each collector having a separation distance from the region where the sample is illuminated by the source. The light backscattered from the sample is combined with reference arm light at the same optical path length for each light collector. The intensity of interference may be correlated with the concentration of an analyte in the material, for example the glucose concentration in a turbid medium like skin. The sensor operation can be based on fiber optics technology, integrated optics, or a combination of these. The operation is such that the spectrally resolved scattering and absorption coefficients can be measured simultaneously. In addition, the operation of the sensor can be synchronized with other sensors, for example temperature, pressure, or heartrate.

A method of automotive camera system calibration is disclosed in the present invention. At least two targets are placed within the field of view of each camera included in the system. Each camera captures the targets. Then, the vehicle is moved, and another image is captured. The images are used to derive the camera orientation parameters. Based on these parameters, misalignment of the cameras can be compensated by the image processing unit.

A laser engraving device is adapted to process a plurality of lens blanks in a single processing run. The lens blanks are cut or edged serially where the laser cutter path for each blank is calculated by software which interprets lens blank optical parameters, prescription parameters and frame trace parameters, all of which can vary for each blank being edged. A method for making an antenna array includes dividing a flexible dielectric substrate into a plurality of folding sections, with each folding section being integrally connected to an adjacent folding section along a shared boundary therebetween. An antenna element is formed on each antenna section. The antenna elements are coplanar with the antenna sections, the ground plane sections and the connecting sections. This disclosure features embedded electrooptical displays such as liquid crystal displays and methods of making the same. The displays are embedded in light curable material on one or both sides thereof. Processes for embedding the displays include injection molding and continuous roll-to-roll processing. The light curable material forms a protective covering over the display. Electrical interconnects connected to electrodes of the display can protrude from the protective layer. Once the display is embedded it can resist contact with moisture and mechanical damage. The protective layer can be clear or it can contain additives such as pigments or additives for UV protection. The embedded display with the protective layer may be molded into different shapes during the embedding process or thermoformed after the embedding process into different shapes. This permits the embedded display to be adapted into a variety of different electronic devices such as cell phones, smart phones, MP-3 players, a computer mouse, etc.

A method is disclosed for providing a correcting factor for the dilution of measurements of at least one biomarker in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The method comprises providing semi-automated measurements of the ventricular system by MRI scans using quantitative anatomical protocols, determining a measurement of biomarker levels in CSF that has been extracted, correcting the measurement of the level of said at least one biomarker according to the ventricular size, and providing a corrected result of the measurement determined in step (b), said corrected result accounting for concentration dilution due to the change in ventricular size. The method is particularly suited for the measurement of all biomarkers found in the CSF, such as those associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's Disease.
