Context sensitivity. 1. Ability of a computer 'Help' program to provide clarification or suggestions on the basis of the user's position in the application program (when the help function is invoked).

Parser translator system and method

A parser-translator technology allows a user to specify complex test and / or transformation statements in a high-level user language, to ensure that such test and / or transformation statements are well-formed in accordance with a grammar defining legal statements in the user language, and to translate statements defined by the user into logically and syntactically correct directives for performing the desired data transformations or operations. Using the parser-translator technology, a user can focus on the semantics of the desired operations and need not be concerned with the proper syntax of a language for a particular system. Instead, grammars (i.e., data) define the behavior of a parser-translator implementation by encoding the universe of statements (e.g., legal test and / or transformation statements) and by encoding translations appropriate to a particular data processing application (e.g., a data conversion program, etc.). Some parser-translator implementations described herein interface dynamically with other systems and / or repositories to query for information about objects, systems and states represented therein, and / or their respective interfaces. Some grammars described herein encode sensitivity to an external context. In this way, context-sensitive prompting and validation of correct specification of statements is provided. A combination of parser technology and dynamic querying of external system state allows users to build complex statements (e.g., using natural languages within a user interface environment) and to translate those complex statements into statements or directives appropriate to a particular data processing application.

Context-sensitive handling of interruptions

A list of notification items is received, the list including a plurality of notification items, wherein each respective one of the plurality of notification items is associated with a respective urgency value. An information item is detected. In some implementations, the information item is a communication (e.g., an email). In some implementations, the information item is a change in context of a user. Upon determining that the information item is relevant to the urgency value of the first notification item, the urgency value of the first notification item is adjusted. Upon determining that the adjusted urgency value satisfies the predetermined threshold, a first audio prompt is provided to a user.

System for performing context-sensitive decisions about ideal communication modalities considering information about channel reliability

A system and method for identifying ideal channels for communications based on an analysis of communication channel reliability, communicating party preferences, and communicating party contexts is provided. The system attempts to optimize the utility of a communication based on inferred or directly accessed channel reliability data, communicating party preferences and communicating party contexts. Such optimization can be achieved using reliabilities, preferences and policies concerning handling the attempted contact based on a deterministic specification or through inferring reliability, context, content and task under uncertainty by employing decision-theoretic inferences. The methods may consider channels currently available as well as channels available at later times. Thus, the service can include automated rescheduling of communications based on a consideration of forecasts of reliability and availability. The approach may include the use of forecasts about the time required for a communication and the likelihood that a connection will be dropped or will lose fidelity over this period of time. The methods may also include a consideration of metadata within a standard schema that is transmitted along with a communication attempt, the metadata representing information about attributes like the potential communication channels, the identity of the contactor, the task at hand, and the context of the communicating parties. The invocation of the communication service may be performed in a variety of ways, including single button invocations, and via a communication service that is more deeply integrated with other applications and functionalities.

Context sensitive dynamic authentication in a cryptographic system

A system for performing authentication of a first user to a second user includes the ability for the first user to submit multiple instances of authentication data which are evaluated and then used to generate an overall level of confidence in the claimed identity of the first user. The individual authentication instances are evaluated based upon: the degree of match between the user provided by the first user during the authentication and the data provided by the first user during his enrollment; the inherent reliability of the authentication technique being used; the circumstances surrounding the generation of the authentication data by the first user; and the circumstances surrounding the generation of the enrollment data by the first user. This confidence level is compared with a required trust level which is based at least in part upon the requirements of the second user, and the authentication result is based upon this comparison.

Spelling correction system and method for misspelled input

A spelling correction system and method automatically recognizes and corrects misspelled inputs in an electronic device with relatively lower computing power. In a learning process, a misspelling correction dictionary is constructed on the basis of a corpus of accepted words, and context-sensitive strings are selected from among all the strings registered in the dictionary. Context information about the context-sensitive strings is acquired. In an applying process, at least one target string is selected from among all the strings in a user's input sentence through the dictionary. If the target string is one of the context-sensitive strings, the target string is corrected by use of the context information.

Graphical user interface for network management

A graphical user interface (GUI) provides a plurality of views of a network and its elements in the same viewing engine. A user can switch between the plurality of views in a context-sensitive manner, each view showing relationship or interconnection information. The GUI allows a user to view inter-related objects at the same level, and to view at a lower level sub-objects that make up each of those objects. Different functional views can be provided at the same hierarchical or logical level based on the stored relationship information. A user can navigate between a network level view, a site level view, a shelf level view, and a schematic level view, via element selection or by zooming. A network element data set provides context-sensitive data and images to each level and view for that network element and enables automatic generation of a network topology.

Method and system for context sensitive intelligent virtual agents

The present teaching relates to method, system, and medium for a context sensitive virtual agent. When information related to a dialog is received, the current context of the dialog is detected based on the information related to the dialog. In accordance with the detected current context of the dialog, the present teaching switches, with respect to a plurality of resources, to context-relevant resource needed to facilitate the dialog. An action to be taken in the dialog is then determined based on the current context of the dialog and the context-relevant resource.
