Systems and methods for managing discussion threads based on ratings

System and method for removing threads from discussion groups based on ratings of the individual posts within the thread. If a user takes the time to rate a post positively, then the post (and the thread) is considered to be useful to the entire community and should not be deleted. To rate the post, a window is displayed to the user whenever the post is open and queries the user whether the post is useful. A positive rating rates a delete date associated with the post. If there is not positive rating of a post, the thread may be considered useful if the originator of a post marks the post as being answered, in which case delete clock is reset. If however, none of the posts within the thread are rated positively, then the thread is considered not be useful and deleted.

Apparatus and method for the precision application of cosmetics

One or more reflectance modifying agent (RMA) such as a pigmented cosmetic agent is applied selectively and precisely with a controlled spray to human skin according to local skin reflectance or texture attributes. One embodiment uses digital control based on the analysis of a camera images. Another embodiment, utilizes a calibrated scanning device comprising a plurality of LEDs and photodiode sensors to correct reflectance readings to compensate for device distance and orientation relative to the skin. Ranges of desired RMA application parameters of high luminance RMA, selectively applied to middle spatial frequency features, at low opacity or application density are each be significantly different from conventional cosmetic practice. The ranges are complementary and the use of all three techniques in combination provides a surprisingly effective result which preserves natural beauty while applying a minimum amount of cosmetic agent.

Bimodal pore size nonwoven web and wiper

The present invention provides a nonwoven web laminate having at least a bimodal pore size distribution. The laminate has a first layer with pores having a mean equivalent pore radius greater than about 100 μm and a second layer with pores having a mean equivalent pore radius less than about 100 μm. Generally, the first layer has a mean equivalent pore size radius in the range of about 1 μm to about 100 μm and the second layer has a mean equivalent pore size radius in the range of about 100 μm to about 1000 μm. The layer having an average pore size radius greater than 100 μm provides rapid fluid release from the laminate to facilitate cleaning by providing a cleaning solution to solubilize particles or viscous liquids on the surface. In addition, the large pore size allows particles and viscous liquids to be captured and trapped within the pores of the laminate, thereby effectively cleaning the surface to be cleaned. The layer with the small pore size provides a fluid reservoir function by absorbing fluid and holding the fluid in the laminate, or by holding a cleaning fluid to be released during a cleaning operation. The nonwoven web laminate of the present invention is an effective wiper.
