A device for treatment of mitral annulus dilation is disclosed, wherein the device comprises two states. In a first of these states the device is insertable into the coronary sinus and has a shape of the coronary sinus. When positioned in the coronary sinus, the device is transferable to the second state assuming a reduced radius of curvature, whereby the radius of curvature of the coronary sinus and the radius of curvature as well as the circumference of the mitral annulus is reduced.

A surgically implantable device is a single unit comprised of a hydraulically activated extendable cavernosal component and a manually controlled fluid transfer system composed of a pump. Flow from the pump is directed by a one way valve interposed between a bypass from an included elastic reservoir, the pump and a second one way valve interposed between the pump and the cavernosal unit. A manually controlled release valve, interposed between the outlet of the cavernosal unit and the reservoir, permits de-activation of the cavernosal unit and returns fluid to the reservoir. A device and method for male impotence correction and female anorgasmy. An electronic stimulator with at least one pulse generator is implanted inside the body. At least one electrode is installed in the epidural space in the sacrum section of the spinal column and a conductor running under the user's skin electrically connects the electrode to the pulse generator. The stimulator is programmable and may be controlled from outside the body. Upon command initiated by the user or the user's lover the stimulator produces very short low-voltage electrical pulses in the sacrum section that are picked up by the nerves leading to the sex organs of the user, which stimulates arousal in the user's reproductive systems. The pulses are similar to the pulses generated by heart pacemakers. In other preferred embodiments the stimulator includes one or two drug chambers and a tube extending from each chamber to a nerve for producing stimulation of a sex organ. The present invention works on both males and females. In a preferred embodiment, the programmable electronic stimulator is implanted under the skin in the patient's back. Stimulation of the nerves coming out from the parasympathetic part of the spinal cord causes dilatation of the penile arteries in the male and in the clitoris arteries of the female, which results in an erection in the male and pre-orgasmic sensation in the female. In female, the stimulation of the sacral part of the spinal cord increases sexual desire and escalation to the level of orgasm. A preferred embodiment provides for emission stimulation. Emission is stimulated by electrical excitation of the sacral part of the spinal cord by increasing the voltage of the previous impulses. The device may be preprogrammed to set in motion the emission and ejaculation process at a predetermined time interval after the start of the erection process.

A penile prosthesis is provided, which includes a generally cylindrical body portion comprising a cavity with an inner wall, a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one volume-displacing member occupying at least a portion of the cavity, wherein the at least one volume-displacing member is smaller in at least one dimension than the dimensions of the cavity to provide an internal chamber at least partially surrounding the at least one volume-displacing member and adjacent to the inner wall of the cavity. The stem includes a body having an inlet adapted to be in fluid communication with a source of liquid-borne antibiotic and a plurality of outlets disposed along the stem. A male sexual impotence treatment apparatus includes an elongate adjustable constriction member extending in a loop around a male patient's penile tissue or the prolongation thereof. An adjustment device adjusts the longitudinal extension of the constriction member in the loop to temporarily constrict the penile tissue or the prolongation thereof to restrict the penile exit blood flow to achieve erection. A layer of a soft viscoelastic material is applied on the constriction member such that it is located between the constriction member and the patient's penile tissue or the prolongation thereof at least along a portion of the constriction member to protect the penile tissue or the prolongation thereof from being eroded by the constriction member. The layer has an inwardly directed radial extension in the loop such that, when the adjustment device is operated to decrease the longitudinal extension of the constriction member in the loop, the soft layer is forced to expand radially inwardly in the loop causing a corresponding increased constriction of the penile tissue or the prolongation thereof.

A pump assembly for a penile implant is provided having a mechanism which prevents spontaneous inflation of the cylinders implanted within the user. The preventative mechanism uses overpressure generated by the reservoir during unintentional compression to effectively seal the pump assembly from unintended fluid flow. The prevention mechanism itself creates all necessary forces to prevent the undesired fluid flow to the cylinders. This is accomplished by incorporating appropriate mechanisms within the pump itself.

The pump also includes a pump bulb fluidly connected to the fluid passageway between the bypass input channel and bypass output channel along the length of the fluid passageway.

A male sexual impotence treatment apparatus comprises a constriction device implanted in an impotent male patient and engaging the patient's penile tissue. The constriction device includes an elongate adjustable constriction member extending in a loop around the penile tissue or the prolongation thereof. The invention provides a sterilizable pouch having at least one wall formed of a flexible film and including an opening formed therein for providing communication to an interior space of the package. A breathable material is disposed on an outer surface of the wall covering the opening. The breathable material is joined to the outer surface of the wall with a continuous heat seal. The flexible film forming the wall comprises a multilayer film having a peel feature that permits the breathable material to be peelably removed from the surface of the pouch.

One method includes the steps of providing an inflatable prosthesis system with a pump, a cylinder, a septum, and a reservoir, the system having sufficient fluid to inflate the cylinder and reservoir, implanting the system in an inflated condition and leaving the system in this condition in the post-operative period, then inserting a needle through the septum and withdrawing some fluid from the system. The systems of the invention may include the insertion of a needle through the septum for the injection of an antimicrobial or antibiotic.
