Predictive Keyboard With Suppressed Keys

A method of predicting keys have a probability to be entered next and suppressing keys those are not predicted as likely to be entered next on soft keyboards. The method displays a soft keyboard where only the predicted keys are displayed on the soft keyboard where the leftover space from suppressed keys are apportioned among predicted keys. So predicted keys may be larger in size on the soft keyboard. This makes the predicted keys more easily typed by users as compared to the other keys.

Web services enabled device and browser gadgets coupled with data storage service and web portal

A method of presenting structured information, via software gadgets, based on monitored data in a utility monitoring system. First monitored data is exposed to a network to produce, via a first web service, first structured data. The first monitored data is indicative of utility characteristics measured by a first IED in the utility monitoring system. The first structured data is received over the network and second structured data is received from a network-accessible data storage service. The data storage service has a second web service that exposes second monitored data to produce the second structured data. The first structured data is manipulated, in at least one of the software gadgets, to produce structured information based on the first monitored data, and the structured information is communicated from the at least one software gadget to a web browser for display in a web page by the web browser.

Selected text obfuscation and encryption in a local, network and cloud computing environment

A keyboarded a mix of private and public text composing a source-text document is submitted through an encryption adapter intersituated in a data signal link between the keyboard and a computer system. A user selects and obfuscates the private text character portions with surrogate cloak characters in concurrent alternation with direct entry of the public text characters. A resultant protected document's data signal is safeguarded for editing and data storage without revelation of the private text content. The protected document is sufficiently secure for submission into a cloud computing environment and is immune to key-entry tracking malware. Clandestine hacking of residual data remaining in the computer firmware is negated in interpretative value by enabling the user's selective obfuscation of the source-text document's private text character content with surrogate cloak characters prior to entry into the computer system's keyboard input port.

Modified-qwerty letter layout for rapid data entry

A data entry pad arrangement includes twenty-six letters of the Roman alphabet arranged in a matrix including six rows of three to six letters per row. Ideally, no two adjacent letters in a row of the matrix are in alphabetical order. A method for designing a data-entry interface layout including letters of the Roman alphabet thereon involves the transposition of the letters of the Roman alphabet on a three-row QWERTY keyboard into six rows, wherein a letter (optimally every other letter) within a first, second, or third row of said three-row QWERTY keyboard is placed in an additional row substantially below an adjacent letter of said first, second, or third row.

Data entry using sequential keystrokes

A method for designing a keyboard for efficient data entry. A user inputs data from a predefined set of characters such as letters or symbols on an input device by pressing one or more keys, in a sequential fashion, for each character. Based on the frequency of occurrence for each character, a prefix-free coding is used to generate an optimal or near-optimal key sequence mapping for the given character set. In one exemplary embodiment, eight to twelve keys from a phone keypad are used to generate English alphabets, which substantially reduces the average number of keystrokes per character. The present invention enables the user to efficiently input typical data from a given probability distribution of characters using a limited number of keys.

Image Quality for Diagnostic Resolution Digital Slide Images

ActiveUS20090087051A1Improving diagnostic resolutionQuality improvementImage enhancementImage analysisData setImaging quality
An improved diagnostic resolution of digital slide images is obtained by scanning a first digital slide image at diagnostic resolution that is then deconvolved into separate images with one stain per image. The single stain images are then enhanced with image adjustments and / or processed with image analysis algorithms. The resulting single image data sets from the image analysis algorithms can then be stored. Additionally, the resulting enhanced single images can be recombined into a second digital slide image at diagnostic resolution that is also enhanced.
