Method and apparatus for operator condition monitoring and assessment

A system using passive infrared imaging of the face and other body parts of an operator to obtain observables by automatically extracting features from a sequence of images, analyzing the extracted features, and then assessing the results for indicators of performance of a task by the operator in order to provide early warning of potential cognitive or motor impairment and thereby facilitate risk reduction and quality maintenance. The infrared condition monitoring system (IR-CMS) serves to a) assess cognitive and / or physical readiness to perform a particular task; b) provide condition assessment feedback to the subject and his appropriate supervisors; c) activate measures to increase short-term alertness and other readiness factors; d) limit potential risks by restricting the subject's access, responsibility, or authority; and e) facilitate rapid medical treatment, evacuation, quarantine, re-training, or counseling as appropriate. The same condition monitoring and assessment system can also be used during training and simulator exercises to evaluate personnel for assignment.

Enhanced vision for driving

A system for imposing a filter between a vehicle driver's eyes and a source of light including at least one detector facing inward into a compartment in the vehicle toward a likely position of the head of the vehicle driver and arranged to obtain images of the eyes of the driver and a processor coupled to the detector(s) and arranged to determine the location of the driver's eyes based on analysis of the images obtained by the detector(s) and to obtain information about objects exterior of the vehicle providing sources of light from the images obtained by the detector(s) based on reflections off of the driver's eyes, i.e., the position of such objects. A filter, such as a pixelated screen, is imposed between the sources of light and the driver's eyes based on the location of the driver's eyes and the information about the exterior objects providing the sources of light.

Positive wakeup pharmaceutical sleep system with compatible pre-bedtime administration

A novel sleep regulating pharmaceutical formulation is introduced, typically implementing two principal drugs having actions which are reversive to one another, yet incorporated into a unitary solid dosage, and prepared for oral administration before bedtime. Usually, structure is configured to initially release a calmative or other sleep-compatible substance by prompt dissolution. The initial release is followed by a specific period of delay, which in basic formulations entails no release of any drug, and which allows a nominal interval of sleep. At the terminus of the delay, a final agent is released to induce wakeup. Incorporation of agents of opposite action within a unitary dosage form renders utility which is uniquely appropriate to the invention. In a preferred embodiment, delay of release and final delivery of wakeup agent are arranged by a dialysis membrane which eventually bursts as a result of osmotic pressure generated by a hydrophilic core.

Wearable Monitoring and Training System for Focus and/or Mood

A wearable signal acquisition and computerized display device including at least one first sensor configured to measure at least one of the following attributes from a subject wearing the device: attention, focus, concentration, alertness, and mood. The device has a heads-up display or goggles, glasses, or another head piece having lenses. The measurement is derived from the subject's brainwaves by use of one or more algorithms. The subject wearing the device receives neurofeedback data based on this measurement through the projected image to train them how to control attention, mood, etc. and improve understanding as to how various external stimuli in the real world or virtual world impact these attributes. In one variation the sensors measure brainwave signals at two positions of the subject and use the difference in these measurements to derive an attention indicator signal used to provide neurofeedback.

Contact-center routing based on incentives and/or agent preferences

A new routing protocol for routing service requests in a contact center is provided that takes into account agent preferences. Agents identify their preferences for handling particular types of service requests. The routing protocol takes account of those preferences while still routing calls in a systematic, coordinated and efficient manner. Additionally, management may communicate incentives dynamically to agents to incentivize agents to change their preferences in ways that corresponds to management priorities. Management may further influence routing by adjusting management preferences, which may be taken into account along with agent preferences when routing calls. By incorporating agent preferences in the routing scheme, agents are given more control over their work, thus tending to increase job satisfaction and therefore agent retention and contact-center performance.
