Method and system for navigation and data entry in heirarchically-organized database views

A method and system for navigating hierarchical database views that supports the efficient entry, review, and updating of data using a navigation display that is clear and efficient-yet compact in terms of the screen area used. At any point in the navigation process, the navigation display consists of buttons corresponding to the nodes that lie along the path to the last node visited (the set of previously made choices) and the children of this node (the set of current choices). Unselected and unselectable choices are culled and do not clutter the display. The user navigates up and down the hierarchy and enters data by selecting these buttons. An important feature of the invention is support for multiple instances of database subhierarchies within this navigation process and display. In addition, multiple nodes can be composed to form a single database entry, thereby reducing the size and complexity of the hierarchical database views. Finally, database views that are directed acyclic graphs are also supported-including both serial and parallel traversal techniques.

Disclosed herein are a password management apparatus and method, a certification information storage apparatus and a certification information management method. The password management method of accessing and managing desired passwords through a portable password management apparatus and a terminal on which a password management program is installed, includes a first step of executing the password management program on the management terminal, a second step of receiving a user authentication number from the management apparatus, and comparing the first authentication number with a user authentication number previously stored in the management terminal, thereby authenticating whether a user is a legitimate user, and a third step of, only if the user is authenticated as a legitimate user, receiving a password list from the management apparatus and outputting the received password list onto a screen.

Protease sensitivity expression system

The present invention uses co-expression of protease inhibitors and protease sensitive therapeutic agents that results in their localized production within the target tissue and inactivation outside of the target tissue, thereby increasing therapeutic activity and reducing the systemic toxicity. Inactivation is also accomplished by engineering protease degradation sites within the therapeutic construct for proteases, preferably those that are under-expressed within the target tissue yet present in non-target tissues within the body, resulting in therapeutic activity within the target tissue and inactivation outside of the target tissue. Novel chimeric proteins secreted by bacteria are also described. The chimeric proteins include chimeric toxins targeted to neoplastic cells and cells of the immune system. Novel combination therapies of these protease inhibitor:chimeric toxin-expressing bacteria together with small-molecule and biologic agents are also described. Non-conjugative bacteria capable of delivering phage / phagemids expression cassettes for DNA and RNA-based therapeutics are also described.

Hydrogen passivation shut down system for a fuel cell power plant

The invention is a hydrogen passivation shut down system for a fuel cell power plant (10, 200). During shut down of the plant (10, 200), hydrogen fuel is permitted to transfer between an anode flow path (24, 24′) and a cathode flow path (38, 38′). A controlled-oxidant flow device (209) near an oxygen source (58′) permits a minimal amount of atmospheric oxygen to enter the power plant (200) during shut down to equalize pressure between ambient atmosphere and the flow paths (24′, 28′) and to keep limited atmospheric oxygen entering the power plant (200) through the device (209) as far as possible from fuel cell flow fields (28′, 42′). A non-leaking hydrogen inlet valve (202), a non-leaking cathode exhaust valve (208), and a combined oxidant and fuel exhaust line (206) also minimize penetration of oxygen into the shut down power plant (200).

Clips for holding fiber optic cables of a security fence

A clip for holding a first section of fiber optic cable to a second section of fiber optic cable is useful in forming a weave pattern in a fiber optic security fence. The fiber optic security fence is constructed by forming a zigzag pattern in a fiber optic cable and attaching this pattern to an existing barrier fence, e.g. a galvanized chain-link fence. Clips are provided to hold portions of the fiber optic cable together in the zigzag pattern. The clips are formed such that, once installed, they are very difficult to remove without cutting, stressing or bending the fiber optic cable sections passing therethrough. Therefore, the clips will prevent intruders from disconnecting the pattern of the fiber optic cable, in order to cut through the barrier fence and gain entry into a secure area.

Firearm breech safety lock

A safety device for preventing unauthorized or accidental use of a gun. The safety device includes a solid body of material, a muzzle end plug and an elongate threaded rod inter-connecting the same. The solid body is sized and shaped to simulate a live cartridge. It has an outwardly directed flange at one end for engaging an end wall surrounding entry into the cartridge chamber of the gun and a threaded bore extending inwardly a selected distance from the opposite end. An O-ring fits into a groove it the solid body and projects outwardly frictionally to engage the inner wall surface-of the gun barrel in the cartridge chamber. The muzzle plug has an outwardly directed flange at one end thereof that engages an outer end of the gun barrel. The muzzle plug has a recess in the outer end face remote from the elongate rod and in a preferred embodiment beyond the recess there is chamfered surface tapering to the extent that the outwardly directed flange has a thin narrow edge that cannot be gripped by pliers or the like. A key has a projection that mates with the recess in the muzzle plug. A pin projects from the key projection and fits into a small recess in the base of the first mentioned plug recess.

Systems and Methods for Augmenting Data in a Personal Productivity Application

A system and method is provided for generating a display, including information from disparate data sources, for presentation on a device. This display takes a user entry in a personal productivity application and augments the data with data gleaned from a variety of additional sources, including local and external datasets. The system first receives a set of ‘values’ and a set of ‘keywords’. The values and keywords may be generated by parsing a user created entry in a personal productivity application. The criteria for what constitutes keywords and values may be configured by the user. The ‘values’ identified are functionally related to the ‘keywords’. This functional relationship is then analyzed in order to generate the types of data to be displayed. Then a search of disparate data sources is performed to compile the needed data. Once all the data is collected it may be aggregated into a single dataset for display on the device. This aggregation may involve prioritizing, including linking, the data for display by relevance, importance and by user preferences.
