Composition and method of sealing and protecting asphalt shingles or other porous roofing and construction materials

Sealing compositions and application methods for sealing and protecting asphalt roof shingles or other porous roofing and construction materials are described for eliminating algae, mold and mildew, increasing granular adhesion, providing additional UV protection and significantly increasing the wind resistance of the roof or other construction material. The sealing composition includes an acrylic polymer that has been modified by a silicone surfactant to alter its wetting properties so as to promote wicking of the sealer under asphalt shingles and at open edges to prevent curling and water infiltration. The method of applying the sealing composition promotes uniform distribution of the product on the surface of installed roofs as well as enhances bonding between individual shingles by improved penetration on and between shingle layers to increase adhesion area.

Speaker installation structure

A speaker mounting structure is provided in which a speaker frame (11) is fixed to a mounting panel (P) by engaging latching hooks (24L, 24R) and a latching clip (26) provided on the speaker frame (11) with mounting holes (22, 23L, 23R) formed in the inner panel (P) of an automobile door. The latching hooks (24L, 24R) and the latching clip (26) are disposed inside the outer peripheral edges of annular seal members (16, 17) that are bonded to a mounting surface (11a) of the speaker frame (11) and are in intimate contact with the inner panel (P). As a result, even when water infiltrates to the speaker (C) side from an opening (21) or the mounting holes (22, 23L, 23R) of the inner panel (P), the seal members (16, 17) can block the water and prevent it from flowing to the passenger compartment side. It is thereby possible to reliably avoid ingress of water.

Welded roof for modular building units

Disclosed is a roof assembly for a modular building unit that comprises a roofing sheet that is welded to the frame of the modular building unit to form a unitary, continuous sealed weld between the roofing sheet and the generally horizontal structural frame of the modular building unit, and that is pitched to downwardly direct water toward one end of the modular building unit. The welded roof assembly prevents water infiltration into the modular building unit, and such watertight structure may then receive any gutter configuration the user wishes to implement without risking water infiltration into the building unit. The welded roofing sheet avoids the use of screws or other fasteners, and the associated possibility of water leakage around the screws and into the building unit. The welded roof also is able to employ a single slope all of the way through the full span of the roof, thus avoiding the need for a centrally pitched roof assembly, and its unitary construction avoids the tiling effect that results from the use of multiple, overlapping roofing sheets. The welded roof also avoids the need for silicon or other filler agents between the unitary roofing sheet and the frame of the modular building unit.

Expansion ring assembly

An expansion ring assembly seals a gasket with respect to an annular wall of a rigid structure. The expansion ring assembly includes two arcuate expansion ring bands that cooperate to define a generally circular profile. At one side of the expansion ring assembly, a first pair of ends of the expansion ring bands overlap and include a ratcheting mechanism which allows the ring to incrementally expand but not to contract. At another location of the expansion ring assembly, a second pair of ends are joined by a drive mechanism for engaging and driving apart the opposing ends of an expansion ring to thereby non-incrementally expand the ring. The ratchet mechanism may be used to initially set and hold the expansion ring against a gasket in a desired position and to provide an initial expansion pressure, i.e., for a coarse adjustment. The drive mechanism may then be used to provide a final expansion pressure of the gasket, i.e., for a fine adjustment. Advantageously, the coarse adjustment followed by the final adjustment allows a user to quickly and precisely achieve a desired gasket pressure by manipulating the torque applied to the drive mechanism.
