The capture basket comprises a frame and a net, and has an expanded and a collapsed configuration. The clot engaging element comprises a plurality of struts having an expanded and a collapsed configuration. The plurality of struts form a first section and a second section, the first section tapering outward and distally from the elongate member and connected to the second section. The second section comprises a plurality of cells defined by a plurality of struts and arranged around at least a portion of the circumference of an axis substantially parallel to that of the elongate member. The clot engaging element and the capture basket are restrained in the collapsed configuration for delivery to the target site. The clot engaging element is located adjacent the distal end of the elongate member and proximal of the capture basket.

Protective Helmet

A protective helmet is described comprising: an outer layer (1); an inner layer (5) for contact with a head of a wearer; and an intermediate layer (3, 4) comprising an anisotropic cellular material comprising cells having cell walls, the anisotropic cellular material having a relatively low resistance against deformation resulting from tangential forces on the helmet. The anisotropic material can be a foam or honeycomb material. The foam is preferably a closed cell foam. The helmet allows tangential impacts to the helmet which cause less rotational acceleration or deceleration of the head of the wearer compared to helmets using isotropic foams while still absorbing a significant amount of rotational energy.

Rotary-vane vertical wind energy engine

A rotary vane vertical wind driven generator outputs power by a vertical and horizontally rotating rotor, the rotor consists of a transmission shaft and a multiplate rotary vane annular array, the rotary vanes are divided into two kinds, one is unilateral rotating rotary vanes and the other is central shaft rotating rotary vanes. The wind energy generator has four technical proposals: the first is that the rotor consists of the unilateral rotating rotary vanes, wind area of the vanes is changed by a bumper guard, an expansion plate and a gear cluster, which causes the rotor to be unilaterally under stress, thus generating rotary motion; the second is that the rotor consists of the central shaft rotating rotary vanes, the rotor is unilaterally under stress by a wind shield, thus generating the rotary motion; the third is that the rotor consists of the central shaft rotary vanes, a shield plate is employed to protect the external cambered surface of a windward rotary vane from acting force, internal face of another shield plate inducts the wind to act on the internal cambered surface of the windward rotary vane so as to cause the rotor to be unilaterally under stress, thus generating the rotary motion; and the fourth is that the first and the second technical proposals are enlarged to perform multilayer and multiplate array mounting on the vanes.

Force Mitigating Athletic Shoe

Each year in North America there are approximately 175,000 non-contact ACL injuries. One of the main causes of these injuries is the rotational and translational forces created when a player makes a sudden change in direction or stops. Every athlete subjects their lower extremities to various forces that are unique to his or her mass, speed, and strength. These forces are affected by composition of the playing field surface, shoe sole design and construction, and other factors. Using these and other factors, the level of force at which injury is inevitable (pre-injury force) is determined and an athletic shoe is created which will provide a mitigating deformation induced by a particular athlete's pre-determined, pre-injury force threshold. A mitigating deformation of as little as 2 degrees can significantly reduce injurious forces. After the athlete has progressed through that particular force-generating movement, the shoe's sole instantly returns to its original shape.

Suspension arm having a shaft projecting therefrom and method for press fitting the shaft into a bore of another member

A suspension arm includes a shaft having a free end extending from an end of the suspension arm and a base end embedded within the said end of the suspension arm, and this shaft is configured to be press fitted into a tubular member of a compliance bush assembly. An opening is formed in the said end of the suspension arm that allows an anvil to be inserted therein to engage the base end of the shaft so that the force of a press fitting process is prevented from affecting the remaining part of the suspension arm. Thus, the press fitting process can be facilitated because very little effort is required to place the suspension arm ready for a press fitting process, and the fixture for holding the suspension arm during a press fitting process can be simplified.

Dragline Bucket Rigging System

An assembly and method for using a flexible tensile member as part of the rigging for a dragline bucket. The tensile member includes a stranded core surrounded by a separate armor layer. The armor layer assumes the form of a hollow cylinder having a substantial wall thickness. A significant gap is provided between the outward-facing surface of the stranded core and the inward-facing surface of the armor layer. This gap minimizes wear between the two elements during the normal bending and flexing of the tensile member. A first anchor is attached to a first end of the stranded core and a second anchor is attached to a second end of the stranded core. These anchors serve to transmit tension carried by the stranded core. A first end of the armor layer is also attached to the first anchor and a second end of the armor layer is attached to the second anchor.

Floating moon pool hydraulic pump

The invention comprises a hydraulic pump, wherein wave energy is used to pump a fluid. The apparatus utilizes the oscillation of the free surface of a water column within a moon pool on a floating vessel to lift a floating pump unit. After reaching a peak elevation induced by a passing wave, the gravitational forces on the floater pressurizes and moves a fluid using structurally linked pistons within fixed cylinders on the vessel during the downward return motion of the floater. The pressurized fluid can then be used in a variety of applications including the generation of electricity via hydroelectric turbines.

The present helmet invention combines lightweight, impact absorption materials, force distribution structures, and means for affixing a facemask and straps to the helmet for reducing the risk of head injury. The internal construction of the helmet uses the combination of three or more elliptically shaped rings, each referred to as a “halo ring.” The halo rings are rigidly affixed to u-shaped torsion bars, and together form a cage. The cage covers areas of the head and skull vulnerable to injury, operating to disperse and thereby dissipate external impacts at any point where forces on the helmet's external surface are transferred to the ovoid-like cage.
