Methods of evaluating protein formulation stability and surfactant-stabilized insulin formulations derived therefrom

Embodiments of the invention are directed to a method of estimating the physical stability of a protein formulation. A particular embodiment of the invention places the protein formulation under an agitational stress that causes the protein to aggregate at an accelerated rate. In one embodiment, the change in protein aggregation is monitored spectroscopically using Thioflavin-T. Embodiments of the invention then utilize a survival curve analysis to ascertain the relative physical stability of the different protein formulations under study. This method was used to develop novel surfactant-stabilized insulin formulations in a rapid, cost efficient manner, thus illustrating the utility of the inventive method to the discovery and development of pharmaceutical protein formulations.

Gutter cover apparatus

A gutter cover apparatus a comprising a relatively thin, elongated generally planar sheet member, preferably of metallic material, suitably sized and configured to fit over and cover the top of a conventional roof gutter. The elongated sheet member has a longitudinal front edge portion, a longitudinal rear edge portion, and a generally planar intermediate portion therebetween. The intermediate portion, in turn, is characterized by first and second upstanding longitudinal spaced ridges or protuberances, spaced from each other and extending generally parallel to each other and to the front edge portion and the rear edge portion of the sheet member, substantially the full length thereof. The rear longitudinal edge portion of the sheet member is bent suitably to form an upstanding “spoiler” or debris blocking section downwardly terminating in a longitudinally extending distal edge defining a bearing surface for the rear portion of the sheet member. The forward longitudinal edge portion of the sheet member is raised upwardly with respect to the drainage zones on the intermediate portion of the sheet member to define a downwardly directed “drip lip” and a bearing surface for the front of the sheet member with respect to the front edge of the gutter to which operatively it may be attached.

The invention relates to an improved method for time synchronization based on an IEEE 1588 PTP mechanism for a wireless network. The method is characterized by monitoring and intercepting a time information packet of the other adjacent nodes and a main node while exchanging according to the IEEE 1588 PTP mechanism during a time synchronization packet exchanging process under the condition of complying with an IEEE 1588 PTP time information packet exchange mechanism, thereby realizing a slave-slave synchronizing mechanism. The solution is used for expanding the IEEE 1588 PTP master-slave synchronization and can acquire much more time information; under the condition of utilizing the information redundancy acquired from the slave-slave synchronizing mechanism, a linear regression method is adopted for a slave node, so that the estimation for clock offset and frequency shift is more accurate and reliable; the influences caused by dissymmetry of main-secondary paths and insufficient accuracy of timestamp are weakened; the high-precision and high-reliability time synchronization is realized in the wireless network.

Preferred fuel pellets include at least about 60% flax stem fiber; wherein at least about 60% of the particles are less than about a quarter of an inch in length. The fuel pellet is processed by first selecting or processing the flax stem fiber so that it has a moisture content of from about 5 to about 12%. The bulk flax stem fiber material is then processed in a hammermill or the like to reduce the size of the fiber particles. The processed flax is then extruded through a commercial pelletizing machine. The pellets are then cut and then dried.

Device for monitoring the voltage output by the cells of an electrochemical generator

An electrochemical generator comprises a stack of cells in series. To control the voltage across the terminals, controlling means comprise, for each cell, a first reactive passive component, the impedance varying depending on the DC voltage across its terminals, being biased by the voltage delivered by the cell, and a second reactive or resonant passive component forming, with the first reactive passive component, a series or parallel resonant circuit having a preset nominal resonant frequency for a nominal biasing voltage delivered by the cell. Using a variable frequency signal generator to supply the resonant circuits allows a detection circuit to detect resonant peak(s) across the terminals. The divergence between the resonant frequency corresponding to a detected peak and the nominal resonant frequency indicates the state of the associated cell. The frequency differences directly, for their part, provide information on the uniformity of the cells with respect to each other.
