InactiveUS20060184937A1Simplifies management system updateSimple dataSoftware simulation/interpretation/emulationMemory systemsMaintenance releaseData center
Virtual machines of a virtual data center generate runtime instances with a software image, hardware configuration, management configuration and user / service configuration. Virtual data center resource use is monitored by reference to the management configuration of runtime instances, such as for environmental controls like power, cooling and balancing, or for policy limitations on users, software or hardware. Users or services generate runtime instances of stored virtual machines by reference to the user / service configuration, such as pricing or priority. In one example embodiment, the virtual machine software image comprises an application system preparation file that populates a read only application image common to plural virtual machines. Information unique to each virtual machine with respect to the application is maintained in the user / service configuration of the virtual machine and version information is maintained in the management configuration of the virtual machine. Using the detected first spectrum and the detected second spectrum together, a processor (MPU) determines a property (CD / OV) of the structure. The spectra can be combined in various ways. For example, the first detected spectrum can be used to control one or more parameters of illumination and / or detection used to capture the second spectrum, or vice versa. The first spectrum can be used to distinguish properties of different layers (T1, T2) in the structure. First and second radiation sources (SRC1, SRC2) may share a common drive laser (LAS).

Shape-sensing expandable member

An expandable member for characterizing a three-dimensional space within a mammalian body is described. The expandable member is delivered to a target region in a deflated state where it is expanded by inflation of the member. Sensory transducers that contact the member relay sensory information generated when the member is in an expanded state to a microprocessor located outside the body. Using the sensory information, a data-driven picture that characterizes the three-dimensional space within the body is created with a microprocessor. The apparatus is useful in preparation for minimally invasive surgical therapy.

Latency-aware asset trading system

An online trading system for providers, customers and online trading servers, as well as methods of conducting online trading transactions, that incorporate processing components and steps that measure, monitor, report and utilize up-to-date network latency data to process offers to deal so that an unnecessarily large number of deals will not be refused. The systems and methods may also be used to make adjustments to the frequency and content of price quotes, based on current latency data, to improve customers' opportunity to submit offers that will arrive timely. The invention provides banks (and other liquidity providers), as well as online trading server operators, with sufficient information concerning network latencies so that price quotes issued by the banks can be “tuned” and customized so that they will not expire before the bank's customers have a reasonable opportunity to review the price quotes and submit offers to deal.

Apparatus and method for freezing the states of a receiver during silent line state operation of a network device

A method for maintaining the states of a receiver during the silent line state of a network device operating in a low power link suspend mode is presented. Accordingly, a method of freezing the states of the equalizer and keeping the receiver clock locked to a frequency that is approximately equal to that of the input data while providing for rapid adjustment to the phase and thus recovery of the input data is presented. During Silent Line State (SLS), the receiver states are frozen using methods that avoid parasitic decay. Also, the receive clock phase lock loop is locked onto the local transmit clock since the local transmit clock has a frequency approximating the incoming data frequency. During the SLS, the transmitter of the remote network device may have been turned off to conserve power therefore the receiver has no way of immediately knowing the phase of an incoming data. Thus, in order to prevent loss of data, the receiver loops of the receiving network device are trained to the frequency of the transmitting remote network device using periodic Link Suspend packets. Thus, in most cases, only the phase of the incoming signal need be acquired when data arrives. The phase may be quickly acquired using loop bandwidth shift methods whereby the receive clock phase lock loop bandwidth is increased to a value that aids rapid acquisition of the input clock and then, after acquisition, the bandwidth is shifted to a low value to enhance noise rejection during tracking.

System and method for social networking in a virtual space

Social networking in a virtual space over a network is facilitated. Subscriber computing devices each operated by a subscriber are associated with a subscriber identifier. Each computing device is connected to the network. A subscriber profile is created in a profile datastore, wherein the subscriber profile comprises information about the subscriber and wherein the subscriber profile is associated with the subscriber's subscriber identifier. Subscriber identifiers associated with subscribers who are logged in to a website are monitored. The website defines a virtual space and the logged-in subscribers are characterized as present in the virtual space. A web page is served to the computing devices of the present subscribers via the network. The web page of a first subscriber comprises a first subscriber icon associated with the first subscriber and subscriber icons of other present subscribers. A determination is made whether the first subscriber profile matches the subscriber profile of one or more of the other present subscribers according to matching criteria. An attribute is assigned to the icons of the other present subscribers that match the profile of the first subscriber according to matching criteria. Selected profile information is provided to the first subscriber of a selected one of any of the other present matching subscribers.

Replication protocol for data stores

A protocol for replicating replicas in a sync community. Each replica maintains a knowledge that represents changes that the replica is aware of. Each replica does not typically maintain knowledge about other replicas. The protocol includes messages that include knowledge about changes on the various replicas. Using the knowledge, the replicas can enumerate changes and send the changes using asynchronous messages that do not need to be received in any particular order. The protocol enables filters to ensure that a valid replication is possible using a minimum knowledge argument. The protocol also enables replicas to partially replicate using filtered knowledge.
