The invention discloses a method for predicting dynamic characteristics of a drilling riser in an ultra-deep water free standing mode, which comprises the following steps of: establishing a two-dimensional coordinate system by taking a submarine blowout preventer as an original point, and establishing a fluid infinitesimal and riser infinitesimal mechanical equilibrium equation according to the Alembert principle; in consideration of environmental loads generated by waves, ocean currents and wind and buoyancy generated by a buoyancy barrel on the top of the riser, a classical bent beam theory is adopted to deduce a transverse differential equation of the riser in the ultra-deep water free standing mode, boundary conditions of a dynamic behavior prediction model of the riser in the ultra-deep water free standing mode are determined, and a finite element method is adopted to predict the dynamic behavior of the riser in the ultra-deep water free standing mode. An equation is solved by combining a Newmark-beta integral method, a dynamic behavior prediction model of the marine riser in the ultra-deep water free standing mode is finally established, and the dynamic characteristic behavior of the marine riser in the mode can be clearly predicted.
