The disclosed methods, applications and devices implement the periodic communication of a probe packet that is generated and transmitted from a TCP sender to a TCP receiver during the period that the TCP network connection remains idle. Receipt of the probe packet by the TCP receiver will trigger transmission of an acknowledgment message by the TCP receiver. Upon receipt of the acknowledgement message the TCP sender will restart measurement of the idleness period and, as such the “slow-start restart” is avoided.

A system and method are provided for docking a patient interface device to the eye of a patient using suction. The patient interface device is formed by the structural cooperation of a base member and an attachment member, both of which have an open distal end. A contact lens is formed onto the open distal end of the base member, and a continuous abutment is formed onto the open distal end of the attachment member. When the interface device is placed onto the eye of a patient, only the continuous abutment contacts the sclera of the patient. An air pocket is formed between the contact lens and the continuous abutment. The air pocket is in fluid communication with a vacuum channel. A vacuum pump is then employed to suction the air from the air pocket and draw the surface of the eye into contact with the contact lens.

A liquid crystal display panel includes an active matrix substrate having a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate comprises a plurality of parallel scanning lines and a plurality of parallel data lines, which cross mutually and form a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels includes the first thin film transistor, the second thin film transistor, a control electrode (CE) and a pixel electrode. The first electrode of the first thin film transistor is connected to the data line; the second electrode of it is connected to the pixel electrode; the gate electrode of it is connected to the scanning line. The first electrode of the second thin film transistor is connected to another adjacent data line; the second electrode of it is connected to the control electrode, and the gate of it is connected to another adjacent scanning line. The scanning signals driving the pixel allows the control electrode and the pixel electrode to be written into their potentials during two horizontal scanning periods or during a vertical scanning period respectively.

The base station control device then controls an area of the searched base station to enable radio communication with respect to the mobile terminal. For example, output of the searched base station is increased so that an area of the searched base station is broadened to cover a location of the mobile terminal. Thus, it is possible to avoid occurrence of call failure due to shortage of communication lines.
