Authentication using application authentication element

Embodiments of the present invention can be directed to systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing transactions through mobile communication devices using telecommunications networks, systems, or proximity near-field communications systems. Embodiments may be directed to a mobile communication device displaying an application authentication element including a pre-selected authentication element. The application authentication element may include transaction data associated with a transaction conducted by a mobile communication device. The mobile communication device may obtain the pre-selected authentication element by either transmitting a request to a server computer or retrieving the pre-selected authentication element from a secure memory in the mobile communication device. A user authentication token may then be received by the mobile communication device from the user. The mobile communication device may then generate a secret token derived from the user authentication token, and if the secret token is correlated to a secret reference token, a transaction may be conducted.

The shunt includes first and second tubular members having proximal ports, distal ports, and lumens therebetween. The distal port of the second tubular member is adapted for releasable attachment to the proximal port of the first tubular member. A second lumen merges and communicates at its distal end with the lumen of the first tubular member and includes a hemostatic valve attached to its proximal end. In using the apparatus for performing open endarterectomy, a filter device is inserted into the vessel and deployed downstream the region of interest in the internal carotid artery. The distal end of the shunt is advanced over the filter device and secured onto the artery. The proximal end of the shunt is inserted upstream the region of interest, typically in the common carotid artery.

System, business and technical methods, and article of manufacture for utilizing internet of things technology in energy management systems designed to automate the process of generating and/or monetizing carbon credits

InactiveUS20200027096A1Improve operator safetyImprove user experienceFinancePayment protocolsEnvironmental resource managementCarbon dioxide equivalent
A carbon credit is a generic term for any tradable certificate or permit representing the right to emit one ton of carbon dioxide or the mass of another greenhouse gas with a carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) equivalent to one ton of carbon dioxide.
Carbon credits and carbon markets are a component of national and international attempts to mitigate the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs). One carbon credit is equal to one ton of carbon dioxide, or in some markets, carbon dioxide equivalent gases. Carbon trading is an application of an emissions trading approach. Greenhouse gas emissions are capped and then markets are used to allocate the emissions among the group of regulated sources.
Carbon credits can be generated by any process that conforms to ISO 14064-66 standards. Once generated, carbon credits can be stored in a distributed, Cloud-based ledger. The ledger entries can serve as a registry for carbon credits as well as the data source for an Internet-enabled trading system or financial exchange that allows the carbon credits to be sold and bought as part of the same system. The distributed ledger can provide records that combine the details of the carbon credits' origin, transaction history, and financial instructions associated with trading of the carbon credits via a distributed ledger system.

Systems and methods for path-based management of virtual servers in storage network environments

Systems and methods for analyzing the service and performance levels associated with virtual machines in a storage network environment for compliance with a resource capacity policy are provided. Component configuration and connectivity information from components in the network environment is collected without using host agents on the virtual machines. Access paths defining end-to-end access relationships between an application on a virtual machine and storage data objects associated with the virtual machine in the network environment are derived. Access paths comprise sequences of components configured to enable information flow between an application residing on a virtual machine and a data object on a respective storage device. Access path resource consumption is computed and virtual machines with resource consumptions that violate the resource capacity policy are identified.

The invention relates to an imprint apparatus for carrying out a two-step process for transferring a pattern from a template (1) to a target surface of a substrate. The apparatus works by creating an intermediate disc, e.g. from a flexible polymer stamp (10), by imprint from the template in a first imprint unit (200). A feeder device 410 is then operated to feed the intermediate stamp to a second imprint unit (300), where it is used to make an imprint in a target surface of a substrate.

System and method for laser lipolysis

A device and related method for the removal of subcutaneous adipose layers comprises a laser source; an optical fiber for conveying a laser beam emitted by the laser source; and a hollow cannula for guiding the fiber to the subcutaneous treatment area. The cannula has a curved portion at its distal end, where the curved portion can be shaped to roughly conform to the contour of the patient's body structure. In this way, laser energy from the fiber, applied to the adipose layers, is generally directed away from the lower dermis of the patient, minimizing the risk of non-reversible damage to the dermis, including skin necrosis. In another embodiment, the optical fiber is a side-firing fiber that directs the laser energy away from the dermis. In other embodiments, a radiation detector, such as a thermal or optical sensor, monitors the temperature at the surface of the skin above the treatment area to warn the operator of harmful temperatures in the lower dermis. In another embodiment, a temperature sensitive material is applied to the surface of the skin above the treatment area to warn of harmful dermal temperatures. In another embodiment, a cooling mechanism cools the surface of the skin above the treatment area to prevent damage to the dermis.

Risk Management for Cable Protection Via Dynamic Buffering

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to optimizing a minimum cost function associated with buried asset lines by using a GIS application to generate a “dynamic buffer” around each asset line based on a risk management algorithm. A risk management algorithm, by which a GIS application can generate a “dynamic buffer”, is employed to minimize asset line damage risk and operating costs by balancing potential costs from damage against the fixed labor costs of manually screened and located tickets. Embodiments of the invention utilize the geography of the situation as well as factors for the asset itself.

Method and apparatus for sharps protection

Devices and methods are disclosed for protecting individuals from the sharp ends of medical objects following use on a patient. Such sharp objects include hypodermic needles, scalpel blades, cannulae, trocars, and the like. The invention utilizes a disposable protective cover for the used sharp. The protective cover is designed to surround and embed the sharp in a permanent cover that is blunt and will not permit further puncture or cutting with the sharp. In an embodiment, the protective cover also absorbs any fluids on or in the used sharp and prevents any fluids from escaping the protective cover. The sharp cover is configured to irreversibly lock, once closed. A refillable or replaceable dispenser dispenses the protective covers at points of use. A disposable receptacle receives the used sharp embedded in the protective cover. When the receptacle is full, the entire receptacle may be discarded in a medical waste container.
