Pruning shears

A pruning shears is revealed. The pruning shears include a first brake arm, a second brake arm, a blade, and at least one connection piece. The first brake arm is disposed with a first toothed part while the second brake arm is arranged with a second toothed part. The first toothed part and the second toothed part are engaged with each other. The connection piece is pivotally connected to the blade, the first brake arm, and the second brake arm. During a cutting process (pruning process), a force applied is reduced due to the connection piece pivotally connected to the first brake arm and the second brake arm. While the first and the second toothed parts are engaged with each other, the connection piece becomes a wall of the first and the second toothed parts for stabilizing the engagement of the first and the second toothed parts.

Segmented modeling of large data sets

To provide efficient and effective modeling of data set, the data set is initially separated into several subsets which can then be processed independently. The subsets themselves are chosen to have some internal commonality, thus providing effective independent tools where possible. This commonality may include correlation between variables or interaction amongst the variables in the subset. Once separated, each subset is independently modeled, creating a subset model having predictive qualities related to the data subset. Next, the subset models themselves are aggregated to generate a overall final model. This final model is predictive of outcomes based upon all data in the data set, thus providing a more robust stable model.

Binary DNA probe for fluorescent analysis of nucleic acids

The invention is directed to binary oligonucleotide probes for nucleic analysis, which probes can be made of DNA or RNA that recognize nucleic acid analytes (both DNA and RNA) with unprecedented high selectivity under mild conditions and are highly sensitive to single nucleotide mismatches (SNP single nucleotide polymorphisms) without PCR amplification. In one group, the binary probes indicate that they have hybridized to a particular nucleic analyte by binding to a molecular beacon that gives off a fluorescent signal. A second group of binary probes bind to a dye such as malachite green, where upon hybridization to analyte the fluorescence of the dye increases dramatically and is easily detected and measured. The new binary probes require only about five minutes at room temperature to generate a detectable signal.
