Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to establishing an STC connection by tethering a special purpose connected device (SPCD) through a tethering mobile device having network access. The SPCD accesses an application server on the network, and is authenticated before service to the SPCD begins. Once authenticated, the service provider is billed for the STC connection instead of a user of the tethering mobile device.

A method for controlling and regulating a transmission brake which, for the purpose of synchronization, determines a target rotational speed of a shaft that is to be synchronized on the basis of an actual rotational speed of a transmission shaft, and controls a transmission brake such that the determined target rotational speed is set for the shaft that is supposed to be synchronized. The transmission brake also carries out additional functions. These functions require no, or only minimal, additional hardware complexity in a cost-neutral way, but considerably increase the functional and practical value of the transmission brake. The invention provides a cache architecture that selectively powered-up a portion of data array in a pipelined cache architecture. A tag array is first powered-up, but the data array is not powered-up during this time, to determine whether there is a tag hit from the decoded index address comparing to the tag compare data. If there is a tag hit, during a later time, a data array is then powered-up at that time to enable a cache line which corresponds with the tag hit for placing onto a data bus. The power consumed by the tag represents a fraction of the power consumed by the data array. A significant power is conserved during the time in which the tag array is assessing whether a tag hit occurs while the data array is not powered-on at this point.

The invention is directed to a method for operating a level control system of a motor vehicle which includes: a control apparatus, sensors for the direct or indirect determination of the distance of the vehicle chassis to the axles of the vehicle wheels; and, actuators for adjusting the distance of the vehicle chassis to these wheel axles. Upon failure of a service function in a first instance of the service function path, packets are redirected to a backup associated with the failed service function located in another instance of the service function path. Once processed by the backup service function, the redirected packets may be routed back to the first instance of the service function path.
