The invention provides a mono-static MIMO radar distribution type target angle estimation method based on a fourth-order cumulant. M transmit-receive antenna arrays are provided, a transmitting end transmits mutually orthogonal phase-coded signals, and a receiving end receives mutually orthogonal phase-coded signals. A matching filter of each receiving array of the receiving end carries out matching filtering on the received orthogonal signals and then carries out separation, and a distribution type target receive signal matrix is obtained. A fourth-order cumulant matrix of the receive signals is calculated by using the distribution type target receive signal matrix. The method herein includes the following steps: 1. constructing a cross correlation matrix; 2. dividing the cross correlation matrix to obtain subblocks which have an order which is equal to the number of signals; 3. based on the subblocks, constructing an azimuth information matrix and an elevation information matrix that contains automatic pairing; 4. obtaining a direction cosine estimate having z-axis low precision and no fuzzy and a corresponding characteristic vector matrix [gamma]; 5. obtaining a direction cosine having a z-axis high precision fuzzy; 6. repeating steps 1-5, being able to obtain two direction cosines corresponding to the x-axis and the y-axis; 7. obtaining a direction cosine having high precision and no fuzzy; and 8. obtaining automatic pairing. According to the invention, the method herein is applied to technologies for estimating DOA of receiving signals by using array antennas.
