380 results about "Loudspeaker enclosure" patented technology

A loudspeaker enclosure or loudspeaker cabinet is an enclosure (often box-shaped) in which speaker drivers (e.g., loudspeakers and tweeters) and associated electronic hardware, such as crossover circuits and, in some cases, power amplifiers, are mounted. Enclosures may range in design from simple, homemade DIY rectangular particleboard boxes to very complex, expensive computer-designed hi-fi cabinets that incorporate composite materials, internal baffles, horns, bass reflex ports and acoustic insulation. Loudspeaker enclosures range in size from small "bookshelf" speaker cabinets with 4" woofers and small tweeters designed for listening to music with a hi-fi system in a private home to huge, heavy subwoofer enclosures with multiple 18" or even 21" speakers in huge enclosures which are designed for use in stadium concert sound reinforcement systems for rock music concerts.

An ear mounted earphone includes a speaker housing for positioning a speaker at the entrance to the auditory canal of an ear of a user. An elongate boom extends from the speaker housing and through a sleeve at one end of an earpiece so that the boom may be moved longitudinally and rotationally within the sleeve for adjustment purposes and will be frictionally held in adjusted position by the sleeve during use. A microphone arm with microphone may be rotatably mounted on the speaker housing to provide a microphone when the earphones are used with a communication system. The rotatability of the microphone arm allowing the same earphone and microphone arm to be adjusted for use with either the right or left ear of a user. An earpiece may be conveniently integrally molded as a single piece with a slit formed therein intermediate its length so the wire to the speaker and microphone can be positioned within the earpiece. The speaker may be waterproofed by a thin waterproof material such as mylar.

Loudspeaker Enclosure System With Signal Processor For Enhanced Perception Of Low Frequency Output

ActiveUS20140341394A1Minimize overload distortionEnhanced low frequency outputSignal processingGain controlResonant cavityHarmonic
A loudspeaker system with a transducer and an enclosure with at least one resonant chamber, including a resonant-chamber resonance frequency, at which a displacement characteristic of a vibratile diaphragm of the transducer has a minimum. The loudspeaker system further includes a multi-mode signal processor with a set of signal processes wherein in one example, a variable gain, frequency selective dynamic filter reduces the gain in a high displacement frequency range upon an output in the frequency range exceeding an overload amplitude threshold. The gain reduction is compensated for by complimentary frequency generating signal processes, including at least one of a harmonics generator and a transpositional gain controller, with the signal processor adapted to match the resonant chamber enclosure by substantially maintaining or increasing acoustic output at the resonant chamber resonance and generating harmonics associated with fundamental frequencies in the gain reduced frequency range to maintain a perception of tonal quality and physical bass impact, increasing low frequency capability while minimizing audible overload distortion.

Quickly Installed Multiple Speaker Surround Sound System and Method

A surround sound speaker system is provided whereby multiple speakers that broadcast acoustic signals representative of sound from different directions may be mounted in one speaker housing rather than in separate speaker housings that are positioned at separate positions within the room. Thus, the present invention eliminates the need to mount and run wiring to separate speakers in the room. Because the number of speakers within the speaker housing can be relatively easily increased, the surround sound speaker system can be utilized to implement even highly complicated surround sound systems such as surround sound system 9.1, which is otherwise very difficult and expensive for the average consumer to install or have installed.

Waterproof patient handset

A present waterproof patient handset includes a speaker contained within an enclosure. The enclosure has a number of holes sufficient to allow sound to pass from the speaker through the enclosure. A foil is placed on the enclosure over the holes, and attached to the enclosure only at the foil's perimeter such that the remainder of the foil acts as a second membrane for the speaker. At the same time, the foil seals the speaker against intrusion by a liquid. A protection plate with holes sits between the enclosure and the speaker, and provides mechanical protection for the speaker. A rear cover has at least one boss having at least one deformable rib. The boss is inserted through a hole in a printed circuit board (PCB). The rib is deformed when the PCB is pressed with the front cover against the rib.

Multi-channel, multi-power class D amplifier with regulated power supply

Methods and apparatus are disclosed to reduce the size, weight, and heat loss of power modules mountable in loudspeakers. Disclosed embodiments replace conventional linear technology with high frequency switching technology in both the power supply and amplifier. In these embodiments Class-D switching occurs at a low and fixed frequency, using standard components, with audio performance improvements through adaptation of internal error correction. By permitting 100% modulation, maximum output power is obtained, and a simple clip-detecting scheme is possible. A half-bridge and full-bridge with a single main supply reservoir is disclosed, obtaining useful allocation of output power while enabling the use of a simplified power supply. Power supply improvements include simplification and high efficiency, while meeting the particular system requirements of this scheme. Advantages include: increased acoustic output, reduced distortion, wider frequency range, smaller and lighter speaker housings, and lower cost.

Isolation/damping mounting system for loudspeaker crossover network

A mechanical mounting system and extensional damping technique for loudspeaker crossover networks. This system decouples the crossover network from the loudspeaker enclosure (cabinet), isolating it from any vibrational energy in the cabinet walls. In addition, an extensional damping material is applied to the crossover network to damp any vibrational energy which may be coupled from the surrounding air into the network. The mounting system can be used for mounting any sensitive electronic components within an enclosure to provide isolation from the walls of the enclosure and from surrounding or environmentally induced vibrational energy.
