The invention relates to the field of traffic signal modes, and discloses a super signal mode control method for traffic signals, namely, a string super-mode. The method mainly comprises the steps of1) obtaining a string super-mode type mode instruction; 2) setting basic parameters such as partition network nodes and reconfiguration period of the string super-mode; 3) configuring a string super-mode structure of two-dimensional green waves of related areas; 4) calculating the time difference and configuration transition period of the two-dimensional green waves; and 5) running a switching transition period before executing a new cycle. The method realizes signal effect equalization, high efficiency, multiple purposes, universality and convenience. The traffic flow can go to all positionsof a string super-mode wormhole type control area from any direction with the average consumption being less than 3.5 times of red light waiting, and the traffic flow of a congestion evacuating inletarea and a congestion evacuating outlet area can be quickly taken in or out in an omnidirectional manner based on various variants thereof no matter how many intersections there are, thereby assistingthe trunk road to divert the traffic in the same flow direction, and carrying out fast away flow guidance in the crossing direction at the same time. The invention further provides an omnidirectionala pulsar mode capable of running across the whole area with one green wave and reaching any position with one red light. The number of parameters determining the super-mode is about 20, and the switching is fast and redundant-free, so that a plane type traffic control, foundation analysis and control module is provided for urban traffic control.
