For example, training data based on traffic regulations regarding the placement of traffic lights can be synthetically generated, and machine learning models can be trained to map traffic lights to the respective lanes using the training data with the ground truth generated by rules. Therefore, image data may not be required for the machine learning models to predict traffic light-to-lane mappings.Instead, if a set of non-image features is given that specify the geometry and / or semantics of the lane segment and the traffic light, the machine learning models can predict the associated lane segment for each traffic light.
