A method for determining the concentration of a substrate in a sample solution using an electrode system comprising a working electrode and a counter electrode, both being formed on an electrically insulating base plate, and a reaction layer which contains at least an oxidoreductase and an electron mediator and is formed on the electrode system to electrochemically measure a reduced amount of the electron mediator resulting from enzyme reaction in the reaction layer, wherein a third electrode is formed as an interfering substance detecting electrode somewhere apart from the reaction layer to detect supply of the sample solution on the basis of an electrical change between the counter electrode and the third electrode. A current flowing between the counter electrode and the third electrode is measured which is taken as a positive error. Subsequently, voltage application between the counter electrode and the third electrode is released and a voltage for oxidizing the reduced form electron mediator is applied between the working electrode and the counter electrode to measure a current flowing between the two electrodes. Influences of any interfering substance such as easy-to-oxidize substance are reduced, whereby a highly reliable value of substrate determination can be obtained.

A system and method is provided for enabling an electronic device to efficiently access information content. A server browser accesses the information content over a network. The accessed information content is retrieved and adapted for presentation for the electronic device. A serializer dynamically formats the adapted information content according to a client browser. The client browser receives and presents the information content on the electronic device. An event translator is included to provide additional compatibility with commercially available client browsers. The information content is formatted to selectively minimize the horizontal scrolling required to view the content. The need for horizontal scrolling is selectively removed where not necessary to preserve the context. Each component or sub-component of the original area, such as a frame, table row, table cell or nested table, is considered separately and may be preserved, resized, or replaced. Where the context requires that the content be wider than the viewable area of the screen, horizontal scrolling is preserved.

In a brake system, two first fluid pressure chambers of a master cylinder respectively communicate with two second fluid pressure chambers of a motor cylinder. The two second chambers communicate with four wheel cylinders through an ABS. The wheel cylinders are operated by brake fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder in an abnormal situation where the motor cylinder is non-operational. The brake system includes two separate independent fluid pressure lines: one line extending from one of the first chambers in the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders via one of the second chambers in the motor cylinder; and the other line extending from the other first chamber in the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders via the other second chamber in the motor cylinder. Thus, even if an abnormality occurs in one of the two fluid pressure lines, a minimum necessary braking force is secured.
