The viewer may choose one or several selections, and transmit the response to the cable television system provider. User responses can be tallied and presented in real time to the viewer audience. Survey polling system and method allows an administrator to set up a survey and manipulate and segment responders based on simple answers to certain questions. For example, responders may get three points for answering question one with “A”, two points for “B”, ten points for “C”. For question two, responders may get zero points for “A”, one point for “B”, and five points for “C”.
