A wet wipe, also known as a wet towel or a moist towelette, or a baby wipe in specific circumstances, is a small moistened piece of plastic or cloth that often comes folded and individually wrapped for convenience. Wet wipes are used for cleaning purposes like personal hygiene and household cleaning.

High cellulose content, laminiferous nonwoven fabric

The present invention provides a laminiferous nonwoven fabric with a high woodpulp content suitable for use in wipes, absorbent articles and other applications, and a method of making the same. The laminiferous nonwoven comprises 3 layers bonded together, where the outer layers are lightweight meltspun webs and the middle layer comprises mainly woodpulp fibres. Each of the first (3), second (2) and third (4) nonwoven layer are preferably first formed separately and individually to be self-supported webs, whereafter the three self-supported webs are brought together essentially immediately before bonding them together. When used as a substrate for wet wipes, the inventive fabric exhibits a combination of several useful properties; good wet and dry softness and bulk, good wet abrasion resistance and low wet linting propensity, and where the majority raw material is woodpulp.

Non-resealable wet wipe package

A non-resealable package for wet wipes has a base layer and a flexible top layer which overlays a stack of wet wipes and is sealed to the base layer, and a slit is formed in the flexible top layer along one side of the stacked lateral edges of the stack near a topmost-lying one of the wipes. The top layer is made of a selected flexible material and the slit is positioned and cut with a selected length such that opposing slit ends of the flexible top layer can be pushed apart by a user with fingers of one hand while keeping evaporation of solvent or fluid to a low level. In one version, the slit is simply cut through the top layer and closed with a membrane and adhesive-coated covering for shipping and storage. In another version, a reinforcing layer of greater thickness or stiffness is adhered to the top layer around the slit so that the slit edges tend to resume their initial positions and realign to minimize the open area of the slit when the user's fingers are withdrawn. The stack-edge positioned slit allows wet wipes to be withdrawn with one hand without the need to reseal the slit opening. It is especially suitable for packaging of wet wipes impregnated with solvent for use in an industrial environment.

Stick-on, flexible, peel and seal package dispenser

A stick-on, flexible peel and seal, wet wipes package includes a flexible package body having a front surface, a rear surface, and an internal space sized to contain a plurality of removable wet wipes. An elongated opening extends through the package body to the internal space for accessing and permitting dispensing of the removable wet wipes. A substantially self-closing, resealable label flap is positioned on the front surface of the package body to cover the opening formed therein. The label flap has a bottom surface provided with a sealing adhesive that creates a seal entirely around the periphery of the opening and permits repeated application and removal of the label flap relative to the package body. The label flap further has a starting tab non-adhesively positionable in contact with the front surface of the package body. An adhesive layer structure is provided on the rear surface of the package body for adhering the package body to a support surface. A removable peel-off release layer structure covers and protects the adhesive layer structure prior to use thereof. The package body and the adhesive layer structure are removable from the support surface following emptying of the wet wipes from the package body.

An enhanced, co-formed fibrous web structure is disclosed. The web structure may have a co-formed core layer sandwiched between two scrim layers. The core layer may be formed of a blend of cellulose pulp fibers and melt spun filaments. The scrim layers may be formed of melt spun filaments. Filaments of one or both of the scrim layers, and optionally the core layer, may also be meltblown filaments. The core layer may include consolidated masses of cellulose pulp fibers to, for example, enhance texture and cleaning efficacy of a wet wipe made from the structure. The material forming the consolidated masses may be selected and / or processed so as to cause the masses to have reduced visual discernibility relative the surrounding areas of the structure, when the fibrous web structure is wetted. A method for forming the structure, including formation and inclusion of the consolidated masses, is also disclosed.

Mountable cleaning apparatus for commercial conveyors

A first embodiment of this invention is a cleaning apparatus for a commercial conveyor belt that is mounted on a conveyor table. The cleaning apparatus is a housing that includes a spraying tube for dispensing a cleaning solution and a novel wiping device. The wiping device is constructed to apply a disposable towel, such as a paper towel, to the conveyor belt to remove the solvent including any contaminants while the conveyor belt is in motion. The used disposable towels are deposited into a waste container thereby requiring very little cleaning maintenance. By a second embodiment the spraying tube is eliminated and the disposable paper towels include a solvent (wet wipes) for removing the contaminants. The cleaning apparatus is preferably mounted on the underside of the conveyor belt next to a crumb tray so that the cashier can easily operate the cleaning apparatus.
