The invention provides an aluminum alloy sheet, including 0.4-1.5% by mass of Mn, 0.7-4.0% by mass of Cu, 0.2-1.5% by mass of Mg, 0.05-1.0% by mass of Si, 0.05-1.0% by mass of Fe, balance of Al and inevitable impurities. In the inevitable impurities including, less than 0.3% by mass of Zn, less than 0.02% by mass of Ti, less than 20 mass ppm. In the plate thickness direction center portion of the section of the aluminium alloy plate, the area ration of intermetallic compounds having a maximum length higher than 1mum is more than 0.3% and less than 2.1%, and the number of intermetallic compounds having the maximum length higher than 11mum is less than 140/mm2. The aluminum alloy sheet has excellent formability, pulse laser welding performance, strength, and pressure resistance (expansion resistance) and is suitable for the battery case.
