Method and apparatus for controlling a neural stimulus

An implantable device applies and controls a neural stimulus. The device has a plurality of electrodes, and a stimulus source for providing a stimulus to be delivered from the electrodes to a neural pathway in order to evoke an action potential on the neural pathway, such as the spinal cord. A control unit controls application of a neural stimulus as defined by a set of parameter values and measures via measurement circuitry an evoked neural compound action potential response. The control unit determines from the measured evoked response a feedback variable, and compares it to a therapy map. The therapy map defines a therapeutic relationship of control variable to feedback variable. One or more of the stimulus parameter values are altered to effect the required change in the control variable. This process is performed iteratively to improve alignment of the feedback variable with the therapy map over time.

Method and apparatus for controlling damping of a vehicle suspension

A method and algorithm for semi-active suspension damper control is described. The algorithm controls the damper setting to limit vehicle body movement in terms of body modal velocities of heave, roll and pitch. The main input, body movement, is measured with accelerometers. The control output comprises a request in percent of damper control range. Vehicle speed-dependent minimum and maximum limits are applied. The method includes monitoring vehicle speed and a modal sensing system. A common damping rate for the dampers is determined based upon parameters for speed, heave, pitch, and roll. Each damper is controlled based upon the common damping rate adjusted based upon a location of each of the controllable suspension dampers. The output comprises a single signal, translated to a front and rear setting. The purpose is to always have a balanced setting of the four dampers.

Meta editor for structured documents

Methods, systems, computer program products, and methods of doing business by using a meta-editor to generate components (e.g., a specification of a rules language that restricts editing operations on structured documents, a specification of rules according to this language, and a graphical user interface editor that operates according to the specified rules) for use in controlling or restricting the changes that can be made to contents of a structured document (e.g., a document encoded in the Extensible Markup Language, or "XML"). A Document Type Definition ("DTD") is generated as a "bounding DTD", based on editing choices made using the meta editor, and one or more structured documents containing editing restrictions are generated according to this DTD and these editing choices. An editor (or editing component) is generated that programmatically determines which elements of another structured document can be edited, which elements should be hidden, and so forth. By restricting the parts of the file that can be edited, users who need to do the editing are shielded from irrelevant details, and can carry out their task with less risk of making errors (and without needing to understand the details of the structured document markup language).

Method and apparatus for a multiple concurrent writer file system

A method and apparatus for a multiple concurrent writer file system are provided. With the method and apparatus, the metadata of a file includes a read lock, a write lock and a concurrent writer flag. If the concurrent writer flag is set, the file allows for multiple writers. That is, multiple processes may write to the same block of data within the file at approximately the same time as long as they are not changing the allocation of the block of data, i.e. either allocating the block, deallocating the block of data, or changing the size of the block of data. Multiple writers is facilitated by allowing processes performing write operations that do not require or result in a change to the allocation of data blocks in a file to use the read lock of a file rather than the write lock of the file. Software serialization or integrity mechanisms may be used to govern the manner by which these concurrent write operations have their results reflected in the file structure. Those processes performing write operations that do require or result in a change in the allocation of data blocks in a file must still acquire the write lock before performing their operation.

Braking control system and braking control method

A braking control system (1) includes: an ECU (20) that determines the likelihood of collision with an object based on detection results by a millimeter wave radar (10), a stereo camera (11) and the like; a brake actuator (30) that automatically applies a braking force based on the determination results; a steering angle sensor (14) that detects the steering condition by a driver; and so forth. When it is determined that a collision with an object is likely and automatic braking is started, and it is subsequently determined that a collision with the object is avoided through a steering operation by the driver, the ECU (20) sets a smaller gradient with which the target deceleration (target braking force) in the automatic braking is reduced in comparison to when a collision with the object is avoided not through the steering operation by the driver.
