A perimeter weighted foundation has a central pier pedestal and an enlarged base spaced outwardly and extending below the pedestal. After the concrete is poured, hardened and cured, the vertical bolts of the pedestal section and the radially extending horizontal bolts in the spread section are post-tensioned to impart a heavy unit compressive loading on the concrete in the pier pedestal and enlarged base. After back filling soil onto the spread section and to the interior of the pedestal section, the foundation is able to withstand high upset forces imparted to the foundation by any large structure supported thereon.

A gasket includes a fist sealing portion, a second sealing portion, and an elastic arm sealingly connecting between the two. The first sealing portion sealingly engages a first member and the second sealing portion sealingly engages a second member. A coupling for attaching to an end of a tube, pipe, conduit or other round solid or hollow section. The coupling includes an inner body and a collar to be provided around the inner body. The inner body has an interior bore passing through at least a portion thereof to receive a tube or the like and the bore has one or more interior annular protuberances extending into the bore. When the collar is provided around the inner body it applies a circumferential compressive force to deform the inner body such that the one or more annular protuberances engage the tube or the like to seal with it.

A piston assembly, piston therefor and methods of construction are provided. The assembly includes a piston head and connecting rod operably coupled thereto via a wrist pin. The piston head has an upper crown with a combustion bowl and an undercrown surface. The lower crown includes axially aligned pin bores receiving the wrist pin. A piston for an internal combustion engine and method of construction is provided. The piston has a robust, lightweight monolithic piston body including an upper wall forming a combustion bowl depending radially inwardly from an annular, uppermost combustion surface. An undercrown surface is formed on an underside of the combustion bowl, with at least a portion of the undercrown surface being bounded by diametrically opposite skirt portions, pin bosses and strut portions connecting the skirt portions to the pin bosses. The bounded undercrown surface has an openly exposed surface area, as viewed looking along a central longitudinal axis along which the piston reciprocates, providing an expansive area against which oil being splashed or sprayed can come into direct contact with to enhance cooling the piston while in use. A fluid control valve has at its lower inlet end a bi-loading seal. The seal is generally ring shaped in top view. However, it has a first flexible load section for sealing the stationary disk with respect to the housing and a second load section having an annular insert that in cross-section is hook-shaped to form a bend of more than 90 degrees. The structural units to be connected are aligned, and the reinforcement elements are pre-fixed in the carrier units before a heat treatment of the structural units, and are finally fixed by foaming and/or adhesive bonding after the heat treatment.

The invention relates to a process for preparing a flame-resistant polymer-modified polyol having a solids content of 1 to 65 wt. % wherein (i) at least one polyisocyanate and (ii) an olamine are reacted in (iii) a base polyol having at least two active hydrogen containing groups of which more than 50% are primary active hydrogen containing groups and wherein the olamine has at least one phosphonic ester group attached to a tertiary nitrogen atom and contains at least two hydroxyl groups. The invention further relates to a flame-resistant polymer-modified polyol obtainable with the process of the invention, to a process for preparing optionally foamed plastics using the polymer- modified polyol of the invention, and to the use of a polymer-modified polyol for the preparation of flexible polyurethane foams.

Disclosed is a multiple telescopic tube comprising at least two parallel outer tubes (1), at least two inner tubes (2) which are disposed parallel to the outer tubes (1) and are movable relative to said outer tubes (1) in a longitudinal direction (Z), and a clamping device (3) which is provided with a clamping engagement element (5) that can be made to engage with the exterior surfaces of the inner tubes (2). The clamping device (3) prevents displacement of the inner tubes (2) relative to the outer tubes (1) in a longitudinal clamping direction while the inner tubes (2) remain movable in the opposite longitudinal direction when the multiple telescopic tube is subjected to a load in said longitudinal clamping direction. The inventive multiple telescopic tube can be used as a leg of a camera stand, for example.
