Suspension control system

In a suspension control system, accelerations detected by acceleration sensors are differentiated by a differentiator to calculate acceleration derivative values. Based on these values, a target electrical current calculating section calculates a target electrical current that is supplied to an actuator which controls a damping force of a damper. Before a rolling or pitch angle occurs in the vehicle, the change of the rolling or pitch angle is predicted to control the damping force of the damper, thereby improving the response of rolling angle and pitch angle control to achieve, simultaneously, an accurate posture control and a satisfactory riding comfort. Because the target electrical current calculating section corrects the target electrical current of the actuator based on a damper speed obtained by differentiating a damper displacement, even when a large input is applied to the damper due to an unevenness of the road surface, a proper posture control is performed.

Autonomous Movement System

A movable object includes a sensing device for detecting traveling-route reflector on a travel surface so that a region outside a floor projection region of the movable object, in particular the traveling-route reflector forward, can be detected. Detecting the traveling-route reflector across a wide range of areas allows traveling control, such as gradual deceleration before entering a curve, speed regulation based on a turning radius at the curve so that centrifugal force on a rider or load is not too great. Also the movable object can detect a branch point or an intersection beforehand, decelerate, and notify the user for user's instruction regarding the traveling direction. Furthermore, for a movable object autonomously traveling with an item mounted thereon, a single sensing device detects the traveling-route reflector and also serves as a safety sensor for avoiding collision with any other objects therearound.

Motor-driven wheel small in size and improved in ride comfort, ease of assembly and reliability

A motor-driven wheel includes a wheel disc, a wheel hub, a decelerator, a knuckle, a hub bearing, a constant-velocity joint, an in-wheel motor, and a spring. Since the decelerator is placed closer to the outside of the vehicle relative to the hub bearing, the space where the in-wheel motor is to be mounted can readily be secured. Further, balls are arranged along a spherical external surface of an outer race and the outer race is supported swingably in the axial direction. Thus, even when a great axial force is exerted, the axial force can be endured. The outer race can be supported swingably and rotatably with respect to the wheel hub.

Shock absorber

Shock absorber including a suction passage allowing flow only from a reservoir towards a pressure side chamber, a rectifying passage allowing flow only from the pressure side chamber towards an expansion side chamber, and a damping force variable valve allowing flow only from the expansion side chamber towards the reservoir. A large pressure-side pressure chamber communicating with the pressure side chamber, and an outer peripheral expansion-side pressure chamber communicating with the expansion side chamber sandwich a free piston slidably moving within a bottom housing forming a pressure chamber. Because a pressure-side pressure-receiving area of the free piston is larger than an expansion-side pressure-receiving area in a contraction operation in which a piston moves downward, the free piston can move downward even in a uniflow-type shock absorber in which pressure in the expansion side and pressure side chambers become equal whereby damping force can be reduced during an input of high-frequency vibration.

Shock absorber

A shock absorber includes a suction passage permitting flow only from a reservoir toward a compression-side chamber, a rectification passage permitting flow only from the compression-side chamber toward an extension-side chamber, and a variable valve permitting flow only from the extension-side chamber toward the reservoir. A large chamber as a compression-side pressure chamber communicating with the compression-side chamber and an outer periphery chamber as an extension-side pressure chamber communicating with the extension-side chamber are partitioned in the shock absorber by a free piston that moves slidably within a bottom member serving as a housing. A compression-side pressure-receiving area of the free piston is larger than an extension-side pressure-receiving area. Therefore, even in the uniflow shock absorber with the extension-side chamber and the compression-side chamber at equal pressures during the contraction operation, the damping force is reduced under conditions in which high frequency is input since the free piston moves downward.
